Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Chezaud.
Hi Alexander, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I relocated from Paris, France in 2014. After helping my sister open a café in South Florida, I brought my French culinary roots and perspective to Jacksonville, Florida. My vision was to share an authentic French experience grounded in tradition and hospitality.
Le Petit Paris opened its first location in the Mandarin neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. Built on my family recipes and French tradition, the café was created to offer an authentic cultural and culinary experience in a setting that feels welcoming, intentional, and centered around sharing time together.
As the community embraced us, the café grew. Two years after our first location opened, Le Petit Paris expanded to Atlantic Beach, followed by our Southside and San Pablo locations. Now within the last six months we have opened two new locations; Ponte Vedra and our new evening concept Le Petit Atelier featuring aperitif-style dining, large retail selection and event space.
We hope to continue to share the allure and elegance of the French way of life with our Jacksonville family.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, it has been a relatively smooth road, and I consider myself very fortunate for that. Like any construction project or business expansion, there have certainly been challenges along the way. Every new location comes with its own surprises, delays, and obstacles that require patience and adaptability.
What has made the journey much easier is the incredible team around me. I have been fortunate to build a strong employee base, with several team members who have been with Le Petit Paris since the very beginning. Their loyalty, hard work, and belief in what we are building have been instrumental to our success.
The growth of Le Petit Paris has never been the result of one person alone. It has been a collective effort from a dedicated team that shares the same commitment to quality, hospitality, and creating a place our community can be proud of
We’ve been impressed with Le Petit Paris, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Le Petit Paris is a family-owned French café concept with six locations throughout Jacksonville, each inspired by a different region, era, or artistic influence of France. While every café has its own personality, our mission is the same: to bring a little piece of France to our community through authentic food, genuine hospitality, and beautifully designed spaces.
We specialize in French pastries, baguette sandwiches, tartines, espresso, and traditional café fare made from family recipes and classic French techniques. Many of our breads, pastries, and prepared foods are produced in our commissary kitchen and delivered fresh to our cafés daily.
Beyond the food, we focus on creating destinations where people gather. Whether it’s a morning coffee, a business meeting, a family brunch, or an evening glass of wine with friends, we strive to create an experience that feels welcoming, elegant, and approachable.
What makes Le Petit Paris unique is that each location tells a different story—from the charm of Paris and the French Riviera to the gardens of Normandy and the artistry of the Belle Époque—allowing guests to experience a different side of France wherever they visit.
At the heart of everything we do is hospitality. We want every guest to feel like they’ve stepped into a neighborhood café in France, where they’re welcomed by name, encouraged to slow down, and invited to stay awhile.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that success is ultimately about people. From the very beginning, I made it a priority to treat my team with respect, appreciation, and the same level of care I would want for myself.
Many of our employees have grown alongside the company, and I truly believe that our success today is a reflection of that shared journey. We didn’t build Le Petit Paris alone—we built it together. As the company grew, so did our team members, taking on new responsibilities, developing new skills, and helping shape the culture and identity of the brand.
When people feel valued, respected, and invested in, they take pride in what they do. That sense of ownership and teamwork has been one of the biggest drivers of our growth and something I never take for granted.
