Check Out Katie Toth’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Toth.

Hi Katie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the hair industry for over seven years, but my love for hair and extensions started long before that. I’ve personally been wearing and experimenting with extensions for over ten years, and honestly, I’ve been fascinated with hair since I was around 12 years old. I originally attended hair school in New Mexico while my husband and I were stationed there for his job. After graduating, I started my career in a small local salon where I was able to build foundational skills and really discover my passion for helping women feel confident and beautiful. For me, this is the foundation of why I love what I do so much: watching woman leave my salon feeling like the most beautiful version of themselves.

When we eventually moved back to Florida, my husband’s hometown, I continued working behind the chair and quickly realized I had a growing passion for extensions, blonding, and creating transformations that gave women confidence beyond just “doing their hair.” I always knew I wanted to create something of my own—something that felt elevated, welcoming, and centered around both beauty and education.

That vision eventually became KT Hair Co. We opened our first location in Ponte Vedra and have continued growing ever since. This year we expanded with a second location in St. Augustine. Along the way, I also launched our own extension line after seeing a need for high-quality, consistent hair that I could truly stand behind for both clients and stylists.

Today, KT Hair Co is more than just a salon, it has become a place focused on confidence, education, community, and helping both clients and other stylists grow. Looking back, every small step—from a tiny salon in New Mexico to where we are today—helped shape the business and vision we continue building.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like most business owners, there have been a lot of highs mixed with challenges and moments that pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Opening and growing a business sounds exciting—and it absolutely is—but there’s so much behind the scenes people don’t see.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to transition from being “just a stylist” into becoming a business owner and leader. Doing hair and running a business require two completely different skill sets. Suddenly you’re balancing hiring, team management, marketing, finances, systems, education, and growth while still trying to show up for your clients and family.

A huge part of my journey was also becoming a mom during the process of opening our first KT Hair Co location. That timing was unexpected, and becoming a first-time mom while simultaneously building a business brought an entirely new learning curve. Overnight I was learning how to navigate motherhood and entrepreneurship at the same time. While there were definitely moments where it felt overwhelming, it has also been one of the greatest blessings and gifts God has given our family. Looking back now, I can see how much that season shaped me—not only as a business owner, but as a person.

Expanding and opening another location brought a whole new set of lessons too. Growth is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming because every new level comes with challenges you’ve never faced before. There have definitely been moments of stress and self-doubt along the way.

But I truly think those struggles have shaped KT Hair Co into what it is today. Every difficult season taught me something and forced me to grow. Looking back, I’m thankful for the challenges because they made me a better leader, business owner, and person.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Today, I’m the owner of KT Hair Co, a salon focused on creating a luxury experience that still feels welcoming, personal, and approachable. While I still love being behind the chair, my role has evolved into wearing many hats—stylist, educator, business owner, mentor, and leader. Every day looks a little different, which keeps things exciting.

At KT Hair Co we specialize in hair extensions, blonding and dimensional color, but more than anything we focus on creating customized results and an experience that feels elevated from start to finish. We want clients to feel comfortable, cared for, and truly listened to from the moment they walk through the doors.

What I’m most proud of is what we’ve built beyond the services themselves. We’ve created a team and a culture centered around growth, education, and helping women feel confident. Seeing the salon grow from an idea into two locations, our own extension line, and opportunities to educate other stylists has been incredibly rewarding.

I think what sets us apart is that we genuinely value relationships. Hair is personal, and clients are trusting us with how they see themselves. We focus on the details, the experience, and making people feel seen—not just providing a service and sending them out the door.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
For anyone wanting to work with or support us, there are so many ways to connect with KT Hair Co. Of course, we always love welcoming new clients into our salon family at both of our locations, whether they’re looking for extensions, color services, or a personalized hair experience.

Beyond the salon, we’re also continuing to grow our extension line and education side of the business. We love connecting with stylists who are passionate about continuing education, interested in expanding their extension knowledge, or looking for high-quality hair products to use behind the chair. One of my biggest passions is helping other stylists grow and build confidence in their careers.

We’re always open to meaningful collaborations and relationships as well—whether that’s partnering with local businesses, connecting with other entrepreneurs, or creating opportunities within the beauty industry and our community.

And honestly, one of the greatest ways people can support us is simply by sharing our name, following along on social media, referring friends and family, and supporting small businesses. Every appointment booked, every recommendation shared, and every person cheering us on truly means more than people realize. You can follow along with us on Instagram at @kthairco and learn more through our website which is linked in out bio. We love connecting with our community and meeting new faces.
