Rising Stars: Meet Chamille Gathing of Jacksonville, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chamille Gathing.

Hi Chamille, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story began with a passion for helping people and creating positive environments where employees and organizations can grow together. Over the past 20 years, I’ve built my career through leadership roles focused on human resources, employee relations, labor development, and team leadership. I’ve learned early that strong leadership is not just about managing people, it’s about listening, supporting others, and building trust. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to lead diverse teams, develop policies and procedures, improve employee engagement, and help organizations create stronger workplace cultures. I worked hard to earn my Executive Director license while continuing to grow professionally and personally.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many people, I’ve experienced challenges that tested me both personally and professionally. Going through the pandemic was one of the hardest periods because it changed so much about the way we lived and worked. During that time, I also experienced the pain of grieving loved ones while still trying to remain strong for my family, my teams, and myself. There were moments when balancing life struggles, loss, and professional responsibilities felt overwhelming, but those experiences helped shape who I am today. They taught me resilience, patience, compassion, and the importance of supporting others during difficult times. Even through those hardships, I continued pushing forward, growing in my leadership, and staying committed to helping people and organizations succeed. Looking back, I believe the struggles strengthened my character and gave me a deeper understanding of empathy and perseverance, which I now bring into both my personal life and my career.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have over 20 years of leadership experience with a strong background in human resources, employee relations, labor development, and organizational leadership. Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in building strong workplace cultures, developing policies and procedures, improving employee engagement, and helping teams work more effectively together. I’m also proud to hold my Executive Director license, which has helped strengthen my leadership and operational experience.

I’m known for being a people-focused leader who leads with professionalism, empathy, and accountability. I believe one of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with people from all backgrounds, resolve challenges calmly, and create environments where employees feel valued and supported. I’ve always believed that when employees feel respected and motivated, organizations perform at their best.

What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve had on the people I’ve worked with over the years. Whether it was mentoring employees, helping improve workplace morale, creating structure within organizations, or guiding teams through difficult situations, knowing that I made a positive difference is what means the most to me.

What sets me apart is my resilience and real-world leadership experience. I’ve led through challenges, including the pandemic, personal loss, and major life obstacles, while continuing to stay committed to growth and excellence. Those experiences strengthened my ability to lead with compassion, adaptability, and understanding. I bring not only professional knowledge, but also life experience that allows me to genuinely relate to and support others.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
One thing I would like readers to know is that success is not always a straight path. There will be challenges, setbacks, losses, and moments where you question yourself, but those experiences do not define your future. What matters most is your willingness to keep going, keep learning, and continue believing in yourself even during difficult times.
