Inspiring Conversations with Shane Hostetler of Lane Jewelers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Hostetler.

Hi Shane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Down a gravel lane in Ohio, Shane and Holly Hostetler began their love story as childhood neighbors. That lane would became the namesake
for Lane Jewelers, a place where they now help others shape their own stories, this time set in gold.
Shane began working with jewelry in Ohio when he purchased a jewelry store. When he and Holly decided that visiting St Augustine once a year was no longer enough, the Hostetlers moved their family of six to town in 2023 and began the process of building a home. The couple was not actively
seeking a new business venture, but when the owners of a local jewelry store retired, they had to consider it. “We prayed
about it, and the timing came together perfectly. What better time to reimagine and remodel a Jewelry store than when Publix was closed.” What followed was a leap of faith, leading to the family working together to create a curated collection of fine jewelry and an environment that they see as an extension of their home. Holly explains, “We love hosting guests in our home and the store feels similar, full of conversation as people share stories.”
Clients visit the new store for various reasons. Some searching for the perfect engagement ring or wedding set, others bring estate jewelry to be reimagined, or to sell a piece from the past. Many are choosing gifts to mark life’s milestones from anniversaries to birthdays, holidays and beyond. Whether helping select a new heirloom or redesigning a piece that has been handed down, the goal is to honor the history and memories represented.
“People come in celebrating or grieving, and no matter what season they are in, we get to walk with them. It’s the beauty of humanity on display, not just diamonds and gold.”
The look and feel of Lane Jewelers is different from traditional jewelry stores, Shane attributes this to Holly’s vision, “She is the driving force behind the store. She’s designed the space, curated the jewelry, everyone loves it when they come in.” Their son Will has also been instrumental in the startup and you can find the three Hostetler girls in and around the business, helping with social media, photos, even radio commercials. The collaboration extends to include a jeweler with over forty years of experience, a seasoned watchmaker and several jewelry designers who love to help clients bring their vision to life. The store may sit miles from that quiet Ohio lane, but the small town service and spirit lingers. The gravel that once marked their path still shapes the foundation of all they
create a reminder that the best stories begin simply and shine because of where they started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our store opened during the year long St Augustine Beach Publix remodel. There were days that our sidewalk was closed and our customers had to take their lives in their hands to visit. But it was all worth it when our beautiful new Publix and Jewelry store opened together.

As you know, we’re big fans of Lane Jewelers. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a boutique jeweler without the boutique jeweler attitude. Many upscale jewelry stores work so hard to be exclusive that they become cold and unkind. We have exceptional brands, service and quality but with a smile and a personal touch. Everyone is welcome, and we are here to build a relationship built on attention to detail, trust and delivering on our promises. Regardless of the service, our goal is to wow our customers from beginning to end.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We have been fortunate with amazing employees, and a community that has supported us from the day we opened our doors. St Augustine Beach is such a welcoming place, we are committed to being a great community member and partner.
