Life & Work with Emichael Bethel of Jacksonville, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emichael Bethel.

Emichael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story honestly starts with pain, loss, adversity and learning how to turn all of that into purpose. I grew up on the Westside of Jacksonville and experienced a lot early on. I lost my father to violence before I ever really had the chance to know him, and throughout life I also lost my brother and grandfather. Those losses shaped me deeply, but they also pushed me to search for meaning, discipline and something bigger than myself.

That search eventually became “Worship Believe Maintain” — a mindset and lifestyle that represents keeping faith through chaos, believing in yourself even when life gives you no reason to, and maintaining your vision no matter what obstacles appear. It’s more than a brand to me. It’s survival, growth, discipline and spiritual alignment.

I created “Swavi” as an extension of that energy. “SWAVI” stands for “Somebody Worth Attention Versus Ignorance.” To me, it represents being someone who understands their value without needing to take from others or tear anyone down to grow. In a world where so many people are influenced, controlled or misled by negativity, ego and distractions, I wanted to stand for awareness, authenticity and real connection. I’ve always tried to be the type of person who can teach, inspire, uplift or genuinely be there for people instead of leading them in the wrong direction. Awareness is key to everything for me, because once you become aware of yourself, your energy and your choices, you start moving through life differently.

Music, videography and content creation became outlets for me to transform pain into art, perspective and inspiration. I’ve built platforms reaching millions of views across social media while remaining independent and largely self-taught. I’ve always believed that limitations can create innovation, and that mindset helped me keep creating even when I didn’t have the best resources or support system.

At the same time, I’ve stayed focused on growth outside of entertainment as well. I returned to school and pursued my Associate in Science in Business Administration while balancing work, fatherhood, music, videography and entrepreneurship. Maintaining a GPA above 3.0 throughout everything I’ve faced showed me how powerful discipline, focus and perspective really are. I continued learning business, investing into my craft, working regular jobs while building my creative career, and finding ways to grow even during difficult seasons of life. A big part of my journey has been understanding energy, perspective and alignment. I try to move through life with gratitude, optimism and awareness because I genuinely believe that “as above, so below.” What you cultivate internally eventually reflects externally.

No matter what I’ve gone through, I’ve always tried to uplift others, collaborate, give knowledge freely and be of service where I can. I know what it feels like to have very little support, so I never take opportunities or connections for granted.

Today, I’m still evolving every day as an artist, entrepreneur, father, creative director and visionary. I don’t claim to have everything figured out, but I do know that every setback I survived gave me more purpose, more wisdom and more appreciation for life. I want my story to show people that even after loss, injustice and chaos, it’s still possible to rise, rebuild and create something meaningful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of my biggest challenges came from loss, betrayal, lack of guidance early in life, and learning how to navigate difficult situations while still holding onto faith, purpose and self-control. Growing up without a father and later losing family members I loved deeply forced me to mature emotionally at a young age.

I’ve also faced incarceration, setbacks, broken relationships, misunderstandings, and periods where I felt like people around me wanted to dim my light instead of support my growth. There were moments where I had every reason to become bitter, angry or give up completely. One of the hardest experiences has been navigating separation and lost time with my children while trying to continue evolving into the father I never had myself.

At the same time, those struggles helped build my emotional intelligence, discipline and perspective. I learned how to stop reacting emotionally to everything and instead focus on growth, awareness and purpose. A major lesson for me has been understanding that peace doesn’t always come from controlling every situation — sometimes it comes from surrendering, trusting God, staying aligned and continuing to move forward no matter what’s happening around you.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent artist, videographer, creative director and entrepreneur behind Worship Believe Maintain Entertainment. My work focuses on music, cinematic visuals, storytelling and branding that feels authentic and emotionally impactful. As an artist under the name WBM Swavi, I create music that blends melody, introspection, motivation and real-life experiences, while also helping artists and businesses elevate their image through creative visuals and content creation.

One thing I’m most proud of is building everything independently while overcoming major obstacles throughout my life. I’ve created content and music that reached millions of views across social media, collaborated with known artists, continued pursuing my Associate in Science in Business Administration, and kept growing creatively without major backing or support. Most of what I know came from self-education, consistency, experimentation and refusing to give up on myself.

What sets me apart is the intention behind everything I create. I want people to feel inspired, become more aware of themselves and connect with something real. I genuinely enjoy helping others grow, collaborating and sharing knowledge. I’ve learned how to turn pressure, limitations and adversity into creativity and purpose instead of letting those experiences define me negatively.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I definitely consider myself a risk-taker, but not in a reckless way. Most of the risks I’ve taken came from believing in myself during seasons where I had very little support, stability or certainty. Choosing not to give up on my goals while going through personal struggles, separation from family, financial pressure and major life setbacks was a risk in itself because it would’ve been easier to quit, become bitter or settle for less.

Some of my biggest risks were returning to school full-time to pursue my Associate in Science in Business Administration while balancing work, fatherhood and building my creative career, investing into my music and videography with limited resources, traveling for opportunities, and continuing to build Worship Believe Maintain Entertainment completely independently. I’m also on the verge of publishing the first of two children’s books I’ve written because I care deeply about my kids, the impact I have on them, and the positive influence I can have on other children as well. Expanding into books is another way for me to create something meaningful beyond music and visuals.

My perspective on risk is that growth usually requires uncertainty. I believe calculated risks, faith, discipline and consistency can completely change your life when paired with the right mindset. A lot of people wait until conditions are perfect before they move, but I learned how to keep building even in imperfect situations. That mindset helped me create opportunities out of environments that were never designed for me to succeed in.
