Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Martin.
Hi Krystle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into healthcare and entrepreneurship has been anything but traditional. I started in healthcare over 10 years ago as a medical assistant and quickly realized how much I loved building relationships with patients and helping people feel genuinely cared for. Over the years, I worked in healthcare administration and operations, gaining experience in patient care, growth strategy, and practice management while also pursuing my MBA.
Eventually, I reached a point where I knew I wanted to create something of my own; a clinic that focused not only on quality care, but also on accessibility, compassion, and community connection. That vision became Sanford Family Care Center.
Like many small business owners, the road has not been easy. Building a healthcare practice from the ground up comes with constant learning experiences, long days, financial pressure, and moments of uncertainty. There were many times I questioned myself, especially while balancing motherhood, school, leadership responsibilities, and entrepreneurship all at once. But those challenges also shaped me into a stronger leader and taught me resilience in ways I never expected.
Today, Sanford Family Care Center continues to grow as a woman-owned primary care clinic focused on providing affordable, compassionate healthcare to the community. We’ve expanded services, built valuable community partnerships, and continue working toward creating a healthcare experience where patients feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that we are building something real; not just a business, but a place rooted in community, trust, and accessibility. I’m still learning every day, but I’ve learned that success rarely happens overnight. Sometimes it looks like taking one step forward at a time, staying consistent, and refusing to quit even when things feel difficult.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road. I started Sanford Family Care Center after losing my job due to a local clinic closure, with no grants, no investors, and no big startup funding behind me. In the beginning, I was literally building the vision from my guest bedroom while finishing my MBA and trying to figure everything out in real time.
The journey has been full of challenges; financial pressure, setbacks, long nights, learning curves, and moments where I questioned myself completely. Some days honestly felt more like a rollercoaster with rusted tracks and no seatbelt. But those experiences also taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to keep moving forward even when things feel uncertain. Having just completed my MBA last week, 05/08/2026, I’m excited to have more time growing and streamlining what I have worked so hard to build.
What keeps me going is knowing we’re building something meaningful for the community as well as a strong foundation for my children. Every patient, referral, review, and small win reminds me why I started in the first place.
We’ve been impressed with Sanford Family Care Center LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sanford Family Care Center is a woman-owned primary care clinic focused on providing compassionate, accessible healthcare to the community. We offer primary care services, pulmonology, virtual visits, wellness support, weight loss programs, chronic condition management, and specialty collaboration services, with a strong emphasis on making patients feel genuinely cared for rather than rushed through the healthcare system.
What sets us apart is the balance between affordability and personalized care. We’ve worked hard to create an environment where patients feel comfortable, heard, and supported, regardless of their background or insurance status. Many of our patients come to us because they were looking for a more personal experience and a provider who truly listens.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Sanford Family Care Center has grown through authentic community connection and word of mouth. We’ve built relationships locally by showing up, networking, participating in community events, and focusing on real patient experiences. Even as a newer clinic, seeing our patients refer their friends and families and watching the community begin to recognize and trust our name has been incredibly rewarding.
I want readers to know that behind the brand is a real story of resilience, growth, and purpose. We are still growing, still learning, and still building; but everything we do is rooted in creating a healthcare experience that feels more human, accessible, and community-centered.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think healthcare is moving toward becoming more personalized, accessible, and technology-driven over the next 5–10 years. Patients are looking for convenience, transparency, and providers who actually take the time to listen. Because of that, I think we’ll continue seeing growth in telehealth, preventative care, wellness services, remote monitoring, and smaller community-focused clinics that prioritize patient relationships and experience.
I also think patients are becoming more proactive about their health and are seeking care that feels both high quality and affordable. Large healthcare systems will always play an important role, but I believe there will be increasing demand for practices that can provide a more personal and connected experience.
From an operational standpoint, AI and technology will continue changing how practices manage scheduling, communication, documentation, billing, and patient engagement. The challenge for healthcare providers will be balancing innovation and efficiency while still keeping the human side of healthcare at the center.
