Today we’d like to introduce you to Mecca ThA Marvelous.
Hi Mecca, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up I didn’t get the chance to express myself as much as i wanted to, being the youngest of 6 kids growing up. I found music when i was 11 & that became a way to express myself & my feelings. By the time i was in high school, music became therapeutic for me; alot of my friends started going to jail for extended periods of time & writing & producing music was the only way to keep myself level-headed in those times. I started going to open mics & cyphers to showcase my talent & my skills, & 10 projects later i am where i am now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its never been a smooth road for me personally. From working in & out of different studios, working with different groups of people, you learn that you don’t meet alot of new people, you meet the same people with different faces. But thats how you learn discernment & trusting your intuition, from being in unfavorable situations & learning from them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a rapper, producer & engineer, & an all around creative person. what sets me apart from other artists is really my work ethic & my sound. I put out multiple projects a year & shoot, edit & curate 95% of my content myself. I also help other artists build up their sound & curate albums for them as well. The biggest thing im proud of is just being an inspiration to other artists to keep going hard in what they’re doing.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone doing anything is to find your ‘Why’ & to never forget it. Whenever you’re doubting yourself or questioning if what you’re doing is worth the time you’re putting into it, your why is what’s going to keep you centered & grounded.
