Meet Cornishia Gooden of Visions of Hope Counseling and Social Services, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cornishia Gooden.

Hi Cornishia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From an early stage in my life, I’ve always felt drawn to supporting others through life’s challenges and creating safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and understood. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida A&M University and went on to complete my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of North Florida. My educational journey strengthened my passion for mental health and equipped me with the clinical skills needed to serve diverse populations effectively.

I am Cornishia Gooden, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a deep commitment to helping individuals heal, grow, and thrive. In 2020, I founded Visions of Hope Counseling and Social Services, LLC to expand my ability to serve the community through compassionate, client-centered care. I am also approaching my 10-year anniversary as a practicing therapist, reflecting a decade of dedication to the mental health field.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance being a wife and mother while running a growing practice. Juggling the demands of family life alongside showing up fully for clients and managing the day-to-day responsibilities of operating a business has required a lot of adjustment and sacrifice.

There were seasons where time and energy felt stretched thin, and I had to learn how to set boundaries, prioritize, and give myself grace in the process. Like many entrepreneurs, I also faced the challenge of building and sustaining a practice while ensuring quality care for clients, all while navigating personal responsibilities at home.

Although it hasn’t always been easy, those experiences have strengthened my resilience, deepened my empathy, and helped me become more intentional both as a therapist, a wife, and a mother.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Our team consists of multiple therapists with diverse specialties, allowing us to match clients with clinicians who best fit their individual needs and goals. This collaborative structure helps ensure more personalized and effective care.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about our city-Duvallllllllllllllllllllllllllll, It’s easy to love my city. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, and I’ve had the opportunity to see its growth and development over time. I’ve really enjoyed watching the city emerge and expand, especially in the way the social aspect and community spaces continue to evolve.

What I like least is the lack of togetherness when it comes to bringing about necessary change. I think there’s a lot of potential in Jacksonville, and more unity and collective effort could really help move the city forward in meaningful ways.
