Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamlesh Minshew.
Kamlesh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Feeling drawn to the energy of healing arts since my early teenage years, I pursued a BA in Psychology and an MA in Physical Education. I backpacked around the world for a year in my early 20’s to explore other cultures and view points.
That led me to Southern California where I first stepped on a yoga mat. Now, 25 years later, I am still practicing and teaching yoga. It has been fun to create the 300 HR RYT “Path of the Heart” Yoga Teacher Training. Adding to my yoga practice, has been the study of Vedic astrology, card readings and obtaining my FL massage license.
It has been a path full of seemingly impossible challenges, in particular opening Indira Yoga Pure Flow LLC studio during an economically challenging time in the world. Yet, I keep my dream close to my heart of sharing some inner light with the world. In times when I have self doubt, I hold on tight to my prayers, Faith in the path of goodness and moments when I can have a clear mind in meditation practice. I have always wondered what it would be like to have a huge packed yoga studio where we could really make epic memories as a community. Although really what life has taught me is that is the quality over quantity is what creates a lasting impression and leaves a mark on the world. Currently, I have a hybrid yoga studio model where I offer outdoor yoga classes at Riverfront Park in Rivertown and indoor classes at my indoor boutique studio Yoga Loft.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been quite bumpy and the anchor for my creation has been knowing that Infinite Intelligence is what is the center of all the manifestations. When facing people who don’t have my best interests at heart, I use it as a yoga practice to remind myself to practice not to take things personally. That those who are a challenge in life are a chance to expand perspectives and practice letting go.
When the business numbers dropped because people say they aren’t flexible or can’t afford yoga, I relied on my determination to find a way to keep things going. We moved from a storefront studio after a three new noisy businesses moved in on the side of ours and below the unit we have been renting out, in addition we also experienced a lot of stress from people slamming weights at the gym downstairs. Other businesses also tried to copy business ideas, and undercut with their pricing. There were many independent contractors who asked for more than they agreed to after being hired and were inconsistent in their reliability. There have been many customers who also signed a contract and then tried to blame the business for when they changed their life plans and wanted reimbursement from the studio for their decisions. Yoga itself is a path of open minded practice and some groups I encountered excluded us from their social circles, due to their beliefs. Yet, we have managed to keep a community of folks together who have become friends.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a Professional Yoga Instructor, Astrologer and Licensed Massage Therapist, I infuse my lifelong study of the human body and its energy layers into my every day teaching and working with individual clients. Most days you can find me teaching a yoga class, conducting a massage or astrology session or working on my own fitness routine.
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to open a yoga studio and having Indira Yoga Pure Flow LLC is an incredible blessing!
I use highly intuitive energy to listen to the body, the emotions and observe the way it communicates. I also sense energy in the field around the body which allows me to fine tune the results a client may be looking for.
When I reach the end of the day I like to think that I made a positive contribution in some small way to humanity and look forward to deep rest, so that I can continue that path of wellbeing.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing connection within a person and with others. It seems to me that the whole point of existence is to understand our connection with all things. Feeling connection with others is when I am at my best!
