Check Out Shawn Jolly’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Jolly.

Hi Shawn , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey actually started back in Dallas in 2011, but not with houses. I was originally shooting finished pools for friends! Capturing the way light hits water and landscaping eventually led to friends asking me to shoot their real estate listings, and I realized I had a knack for making spaces look incredible.

I spent years building a very successful business in Texas, eventually scaling up to the point where I had a team of employees. But when I moved to Florida in 2017, I started thinking about what really matters to a Realtor. I realized that in the big agency model, consistency often gets lost in the shuffle.

When I rebranded as 904 Real Estate Photography in 2020, I made a conscious choice to pivot back to being a single operator. I didn’t want to be a manager; I wanted to be the expert behind the lens. Now, after shooting over 12,000 homes, my USP is simple: when you hire me, you get me. You aren’t getting a random contractor or a trainee; you’re getting the owner with 15 years of experience on every single shoot. It’s about providing a level of consistency and quality that a big company just can’t replicate.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think any genuine business journey is. One of the biggest challenges in real estate photography is that there’s no universal blueprint. You’re essentially building the map as you go.

Over the years, I’ve definitely had my share of ‘expensive lessons.’ I’ve invested a lot of money into gear, software, and products that looked great on paper but just didn’t deliver the results my clients needed in the real world. In this industry, you have to be willing to experiment, fail fast, and pivot.

The biggest struggle, honestly, was figuring out which business model actually served the customer best. In Texas, I thought scaling with employees was the ‘right’ way to grow, but I eventually realized I was spending more time managing people than ensuring the quality of the photos. That struggle is exactly what led me to the model I have now at 904 Real Estate Photography. I’ve trimmed away the things that don’t work—the bloated teams and the unnecessary tech—to focus on a streamlined, high-quality experience. Every struggle along the way was just a stepping stone to finding the ‘secret sauce’ that works for my clients today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a real estate media specialist, but more accurately, I create ‘Commercial Art with a Purpose.’ My work covers the full spectrum of listing media—high-end photography, cinematic video, FAA-compliant drone work, and 3D immersive tours—all designed with one goal: getting the property sold.

What I specialize in—and what I’m most known for—is my ‘eye.’ My creative roots started with shooting finished pools and landscapes, where I learned exactly how light hits a surface to create an emotional response. Today, I use that same vision to find the ‘hero shot’ in every home. I’m the guy who walks into a room and instantly sees the angle that showcases the flow of a floor plan and makes a buyer stop scrolling.

I’m incredibly proud of the 12,000+ homes I’ve photographed since 2011, but I’m most proud of the ‘Owner Advantage’ I provide. I’ve run the big firms with employees in the past, but I intentionally pivoted back to being a single operator. I wanted to ensure that my creative standards and 15 years of experience were present on every single shoot.

What sets me apart is that when you hire 904 Real Estate Photography, you get me—every time. No trainees, no random contractors. You get a veteran’s consistency, a Blue Sky Guarantee to beat the Florida weather, and high-end extras like 2D floor plans and branded property sites included as standard. I’ve taken the best parts of being an artist and combined them with a streamlined, reliable business model that Realtors can actually trust.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is to think of me as a partner in your marketing strategy, not just a vendor on a checklist. Most of my clients are Realtors, investors, and builders across Northeast Florida who value consistency and want a reliable ‘go-to’ person for their listings.

Working with 904 Real Estate Photography is designed to be as seamless as possible. You can book directly through my website (www.904realestatephotography.com), and because I’m a single operator, you’re always dealing directly with the person who will be on-site. I offer next-day delivery on almost everything, including photos and 2D floor plans, because I know how fast the real estate market moves.

In terms of collaboration, I love working with agents who want to push the envelope with cinematic video or interactive 3D tours to really make a property stand out. If you’re a Realtor in the Jacksonville or St. Augustine area, the best way to support me is simply to reach out and let’s grab a coffee or chat about your next listing. A huge part of my business is built on word-of-mouth and long-term relationships, so if you’ve had a great experience with me, sharing that with your colleagues is the highest compliment I can receive!
