Meet Russell McBride of Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell McBride.

Hi Russell, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been involved in the entertainment industry. Even at a young age, you could find me performing on the small stages at the school plays. When I moved to Jacksonville 5 years ago, I wanted a way to keep that entertainment thread alive within me. I created my own trivia company called Lucky Trivia which has fulfilled some of that itch. But then I heard about Game Show Battle Rooms opening last year, and finally I’m apart of this amazing team

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve always had the world look at me with a scoured attitude. As a gay man, I’ve definitely dealt with the troubles of living in a red state. But the thing that has been a roc throughout all my adulthood is my close friends. Sometimes the road is dark and they have always and will continue to be a guiding lights through dark travels.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Like I said before, I created my own company, Lucky Trivia, in 2025. We focus on true general knowledge trivia for all ages with a touch of music! I’ve been very blessed with the great support through local businesses to host and create such a fun environment. I know it seems stereotypical, but I’m VERY proud of the achievements within such a short time that I’ve gotten, even being nominated for FOLIO JAX Best Trivia Venue. Growing up, I’d always have dreams of creating something grand and the never completing the dream and seeing it through. So I mustered everything in me this time to focus and work hard and, boy, has the hard work paid off!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Oh gosh, just one?! If I had to pick just one I would choose that in high school I wrote a movie and thought nothing would ever come of it. My film teacher read my script and said that I should try to film it. I ended up talking to some of the top actors at the school and even a few students from the rival school in the area. And had this grand team that wanted to work on MY project. I was bullied throughout most of my life so to hear that these super talented people that I admired wanted, on their own volition, to be included on this amazing adventure meant the world to me. And so we film a movie that, at the time, was the best movie and Oscar movie worthy. But still one of the coolest moments to get to work with film crew, actors, set designers and more all for a project I created.
