Meet Sarah Norvell of The Last Mulligan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Norvell.

Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My background is about as varied as it gets. Law enforcement, insurance underwriting, working at an offroad shop, contract procurement. I’m now a stay-at-home mom who homeschools my boys and I’m married to a firefighter. None of it follows a straight line, but every chapter taught me something.

The idea for The Last Mulligan honestly came from my own wedding day. My husband and his groomsmen nearly derailed the whole timeline trying to sneak in a quick nine holes before the ceremony. It was hilarious, and it stuck with me. What if golf could just come to the party?

I’ve always been the one hosting, always looking for something different to bring people together beyond the usual cornhole and photo booth. Golf gave me that. It’s fun for all ages, all skill levels, and it creates this natural friendly competition that gets everyone engaged.

So I built it from scratch. I designed every aspect myself, including a custom enclosure that’s built to look as good as it performs. If it’s going to be in someone’s backyard or wedding venue, it needs to be something people are proud to have there.

This business started with prayer and a simple belief that bringing people together around fun and friendly competition can create memories that last a lifetime. Watching that come to life at every event we do brings me so much joy.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth is not the word I would use! Every penny of this business has come out of my own pocket. No investors, no loans, no safety net. Just a belief in the idea and a willingness to figure it out as I went.

One of the biggest early challenges was the enclosure. My first design was beautiful, truly. But once it was in action at real events I knew it wasn’t quite right. So I went back to the drawing board, worked with a builder, and we created something I had never seen anywhere else. That process taught me one of the most valuable lessons of this whole journey: if what you want doesn’t exist, you build it yourself.

There’s also the reality of being a woman in a space that has historically been very male-dominated. But honestly, that motivates me more than it discourages me. Women golf. We are a growing and passionate part of this sport and I am so proud to represent that in both the business I run and the community I serve.

If anything, I think my attention to detail and my eye for design have become two of the things that set The Last Mulligan apart. The struggles pushed me to stop settling and start creating, and I think that shows in every event we do.

We’ve been impressed with The Last Mulligan, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Last Mulligan is a mobile golf simulator rental company serving Northeast Florida. We specialize in bringing a professional, fully staffed golf experience directly to you, whether that is your backyard, your office, your event venue or your wedding reception. We deliver, we set up, we host and we tear down. You just show up and swing.

What sets us apart starts with the technology. Our simulator delivers true-to-life ball tracking, stunning course visuals and gameplay that is genuinely impressive to both first timers and seasoned golfers. But it does not stop there. Every single booking includes an expert staff member on site because our equipment requires trained professionals to operate it well. That level of service is built into everything we offer, not treated as an add-on.

We serve a wide range of events. Birthday parties, corporate team building, fundraisers, community tournaments and weddings. We have dedicated wedding packages, including a getting ready round for the bridal party, a rehearsal dinner option and reception packages with branded screens and live leaderboards.

As a woman-owned business rooted right here in Jacksonville, I am also proud to offer a 10% discount to all military personnel, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters and EMS. Serving the people who serve us matters deeply to me and always will.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One thing that has genuinely shaped how I move through the world is personality typing. I discovered it years ago and it completely opened my eyes to how differently people think, communicate, and experience life. Understanding that not everyone processes things the way I do made me a better listener, a better host and honestly a better person.

Combined with years of working directly with the public across very different careers, I have learned how to meet people where they are. How to read a room, how to make someone feel welcome whether they are a total extrovert who wants to be the life of the party or a quiet introvert who just needs a little encouragement to step up and take a swing.

And that is really the heartbeat of this business. Life moves so fast. We are all so go, go, go. But there is something that happens when people stop, put the phones down and just play together. Real connection. Real laughter. Real conversation. The simulator is the tool but connection is always the goal.

I think the best resource I have ever had is simply a genuine curiosity about people. That has served me in every career I have had and it is what I pour into every single event we host.
