Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Harvey.
Hi Tabitha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My sister, Anise Williams and I always had a love for baking which came from our mom. We started just baking for family and friends and our brother kept pushing us to start a business.
What makes us special is that my sister took our mom’s pound cake recipe and turned it into different flavors like, Cookies and Cream, Reese’s, Funfetti and even Peach. We offer mini-pound cakes as well as regular size pound cakes. We also offer Gluten-free options.
I took all our mom’s cookie recipes and perfected them in my own way from the traditional Chocolate Chip to my signature Sweet Stackers (elevated cookie sandwich).
So in 2023, we kicked off Pound It Out in honor of our mom, Linda Williams. She passed away from Breast Cancer in 2003.
We have been doing pop-ups around the city and have a great partnership with The Avenues where they allow local vendors to set up and sell from one of their kiosks. We normally set up during Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Our main goal is to become a brick and mortar.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been smooth with a consistent revenue yet.
Both of us have full-time jobs right now, so being consistent on social media has been a challenge. You know it all about the algorithm.
Finding the right location has also been a challenge too, we are patient for the right place and the right time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pound It Out and More LLC?
Pound It Out specializes in different flavored Pound Cakes and cookies not your traditional cakes and cookies.
We also do pies, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate-covered Oreos. Yes, we can customize! We also offer gluten-free cakes and cookies as well as 3 sugar-free options.
We have done several weddings (dessert tables), business events, birthdays, and other catering events.
Our proudest part is that we live our tagline: “Baking is our LOVE Language.”
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love different areas of the city. It is also close to other cities we often travel to.
I think everyone will agree that the increase in traffic, but this does mean Jacksonville is growing.
