Today we’d like to introduce you to Viki.
Hi Viki, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Victoria, but most people know me as Viki. I’ve been involved in art since childhood — I attended art school and spent years painting.
In 2017, I decided to explore tattooing. At the time, I was traveling a lot, and I loved the idea of leaving my art on people’s skin in different parts of the world. That idea really stayed with me and eventually shaped my path.
I’m originally from Moscow, Russia. Over the years, I lived and traveled across Europe, visiting more than 50 countries, before moving to the United States three years ago.
I began working at Queen Tattoo as an artist, and toward the end of last year, I had the opportunity to acquire the studio. Now, I’m the owner — continuing its legacy while also growing and evolving the business in my own way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say I’ve been very fortunate — my journey as a tattoo artist has been quite smooth and enjoyable.
I come from a strong background in fine art, and I truly believe that, ideally, every tattoo artist should first be an artist before working on skin as a canvas. It gives you a powerful foundation — an understanding of composition, contrast, color theory, and, most importantly, the ability to draw.
From the very beginning, I focused on creating original, custom artwork, and my clients really value that. I think that approach helped shape my path in a very positive way.
I haven’t faced significant obstacles along the way, and I feel genuinely grateful for that.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in large-scale projects in both color and black-and-grey realism, often combined with elements of blackwork.
A big part of my approach is building strong contrast on the skin. My color palettes are rich and saturated, which creates a striking visual impact. I believe that the balance between light and dark is one of the most important aspects of a successful composition — it’s what allows a tattoo to remain visually powerful and enjoyable for a lifetime.
I especially love working on sleeves. My designs are created in a way where different elements are seamlessly woven together, so as the person moves and rotates their arm, the composition reveals a continuous story — one element flowing naturally into another.
I also enjoy working with ornamental designs and incorporate that style into my work as well.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve been able to develop a distinct artistic voice — something that makes my work recognizable. My color combinations, along with intentional use of black to frame and complete the composition, give my tattoos a signature look. Every piece in my portfolio carries my personal vision and interpretation of each subject.
My clients come to me not just for a tattoo, but for my artistic perspective and style.
What matters most to you? Why?
Continuous growth is very important to me — both as a tattoo artist and as a creative person. I believe you should never stop learning, because there is always room to become better.
Unfortunately, I often see artists reach a certain level and start to feel like they’ve “made it,” that they’re already good enough. But the moment you start thinking that way, you stop evolving — and you miss the opportunity to grow further.
To this day, I continue to invest in my education. I attend seminars, courses, and masterclasses with world-renowned tattoo artists, studying their techniques and incorporating elements that can elevate my own work.
For me, it’s essential to see progress in my work year after year. That evolution is what keeps me inspired and pushes me forward.
