Today we’d like to introduce you to Charli Ryan.
Charli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember I wanted to own my own business. Around 20 years old that dream turned specifically into owning a brewery- preferably by the beach. I tried home brewing in upstate NY and then got an LLC and started giving beer away all over town. I quickly got a cease and desist from the NYS Liquor Authority which put that rest. However, I didn’t let that stop me because I went on a reality TV cooking show in hopes of winning 100,ooo to buy my own brewery. I didn’t win. But I did meet my husband- and his job eventually took us for Jacksonville, Florida. Once we got here I started bartending a few places, one of them being a brewery…..by the beach. A couple years later the brewer position opened up and I asked for the opportunity to take it. I spent the next couple years working in the brewery every day learning everything I possibly could. When the owner told me he wanted to retire and travel the world I asked for the opportunity to take it over from him and was lucky enough to also be given that opportunity. So my path to ownership was definitely out of the ordinary but proves you should never stop trying.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not- in my previous answer it involved cease & desists, cooking & getting eliminated on national TV, moving across the country, working hard everyday, and having good character because you can’t do it alone- you need people to believe in you along the way.

Woman owned/operated/brewed microbrewery in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. We pride ourselves in cold, quality craft beer. We are known for a variety of beers from fruity blondes to hoppy IPAs to chocolate-y dark stouts. We have a super welcoming, vibrant, energetic atmosphere that is surfing themed but still has that laid back dive bar esque atmosphere.
I am most proud of Green Room for being a staple in the Jax Beach community for the past almost 15 years. We offer an atmosphere that feels like home for some. We are happy to provide that for folks and make them feel like family when they walking into Green Room!
We have beers, seltzers, wine, non-alcoholic options. The tap room has tons of games like darts, billiards, ping pong, pinball, golden tee and board games. We just want folks to have fun hanging out with us!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is defined by being a good person and doing good for your community.
