Exploring Life & Business with Sheretta Joseph of Caring Hands CPR JAX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheretta Joseph.

Sheretta Joseph

Hi Sheretta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Sheretta J. , and my journey into healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship has truly been a full-circle experience.

For many years, from 1996 to 2008, I worked in the retail industry. When the company I worked for closed, I received a severance package and took some time to reflect on what I truly wanted to do next. Around that time, a friend of mine owned a CNA school, which was then called Perfect CNA School (now known as Florida Training Academy). She encouraged me to enroll, saying that healthcare would always be a field where people were needed. I took her advice, and in 2009 I became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

That decision changed the direction of my life. After becoming certified, I started my first business, Caring Hands Supports and Services, which provided support services in the healthcare field. While continuing to work and grow the business, I continued to expand my knowledge and credentials. In 2010, I became a CPR & First Aid Instructor for American Heart Association (AHA) and American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) as well as a notary public, and because I always wanted to grow professionally, I returned to school and completed my Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program in 2013.

By 2016, I made another major decision—I left my job and committed to running my business full time. That was a leap of faith, but it allowed me to fully dedicate myself to serving others and building something meaningful in the community.

In 2023, after many years of operating Caring Hands Supports and Services and teaching CPR and First Aid to caregivers and staff, I made the decision to transition and rebrand the business as Caring Hands CPR Jax. Today, our focus is on life-saving training and safety education. We provide courses in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program, which equips teenagers and young adults with the skills they need to become safe and responsible babysitters.

One of the things that truly sets our organization apart is our commitment to the community. Each year, we host free community CPR training classes because we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to save a life. Emergencies can happen anywhere, and being prepared can make all the difference.

Another major part of my journey returned me to something that has always been part of my life—childcare. My mother operated a daycare when I was growing up, and I spent many years helping her during my childhood and high school years. In 2023, I officially opened my own childcare program, Ready, Set, Go, Learn Childcare, bringing my story full circle. With more than 23 years of experience in childcare, I am passionate about providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children.

Today, I wear many hats: I am a CPR instructor, childcare director, entrepreneur, and community educator. What I am most proud of is the impact my work has on others—whether it is training someone to save a life, helping families find safe childcare, or mentoring others who want to start their own businesses.

The main thing I want people to know about me and my work is that everything I do is centered around serving the community, empowering others, and creating opportunities for people to grow and thrive. My mission has always been simple: to use my skills, knowledge, and experiences to help others live safer, healthier, and more empowered lives.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has come with challenges. One of the biggest struggles was navigating the changes in the healthcare industry during and after COVID-19, which led me to close my home health agency and pivot my business into Caring Hands CPR Jax. That transition required me to rethink my business model and rebuild in a new direction.

Balancing multiple responsibilities has also been a challenge. While growing my businesses, I have also been continuing my education, managing my childcare program, and handling family responsibilities. There were times when it felt overwhelming, but those experiences helped strengthen my determination and resilience.

Through every challenge, I have learned to adapt, stay focused on my purpose, and continue moving forward. Each obstacle has ultimately helped me grow both personally and professionally.

We’ve been impressed with Caring Hands CPR JAX , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Caring Hands CPR Jax is a training organization dedicated to equipping individuals and organizations with life-saving skills. Our focus is on providing high-quality safety and emergency response training so people are prepared to act when it matters most. We offer courses in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program, which prepares teenagers and young adults with the knowledge and confidence to become safe and responsible babysitters.

We specialize in community-based training, working with childcare providers, small businesses, churches, and individuals who need certification for work or simply want to be prepared for emergencies. Our classes are practical, engaging, and designed to make people feel confident in responding to real-life situations such as cardiac arrest, choking, injuries, and other medical emergencies.

What sets Caring Hands CPR Jax apart is our strong commitment to the community. We believe that life-saving knowledge should be accessible to everyone, which is why we also offer free community CPR training classes to help more people learn how to respond in an emergency and potentially save a life.

Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is that our work is built on service, education, and empowerment. Our goal is not just to provide certification but to truly equip people with the skills and confidence they need to protect their families, workplaces, and communities. What I want readers to know is that Caring Hands CPR Jax is more than a training company—it’s a mission to build a safer and more prepared community.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would like readers to know that my journey has been built on faith, perseverance, and a passion for serving others. Whether through Caring Hands CPR Jax or my work in childcare, my goal has always been to empower people with knowledge and opportunities that can improve lives.

We also believe strongly in giving back to the community. Each year, in June or July, we host a free Community CPR class so that more people can learn life-saving skills and be prepared to help in an emergency.

I truly believe that when we invest in education, safety, and our communities, we create stronger futures for everyone. My hope is that my story encourages others to keep moving forward, even when the path is not always easy, and to never underestimate the impact they can have on the lives of others.
