Saxophone player in Army in Japan
Traveled on road out of Vegas
Took day job.
People asked me to play sax in their homes.
Started with Walkman and computer speakers.
Playing to tracks became my gig.
Played with Bo Diddley in his final years.
Now play 6 instruments and have 680 songs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. Horn stolen in New York.
Sober for over 40 years.
Hips replaced in 97 and 99.
Typical encounters with customers not wanting to pay to cover expenses involved in performing and traveling.
Maintaining relevance as I age difficult even though Im very good at what I do.
I don’t drink I don’t do drugs. I don’t think Jesus is coming. Where does that leave me socially.
I practice daily in a monastic style of persistence.
I call myself a monk who plays saxophone. Like many people, rising rent pushed me out of an apartment I had been in for 16 years. I repeatedly been reduced to less or nothing and strive to rise like the phoenix from the ashes once again
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Perry’s Sax Therapy?
The play on words seems clever enough for most. Many with conservative Christian values find it an offensive entendre.
I have had consistent high praise and feed back. Many or most clients tip heavy on our agreed fee, without me broaching the subject in any way.
My main obstacle has been word of mouth or reputation creating momentum or repeat business.
I am fully present on Google. Maybe I’m in the wrong city.
Larger cities with more potential seem to be daunting when it comes to crime,traffic,and general lifestyle,situations
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m irreverent, iconoclast and love talking to most people and probably should have pursued a standup comedy line
