Today we’d like to introduce you to Virginia Hammons.
Hi Virginia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We moved from Montana to Palm Coast back in 2017. It was my husband, 4 year old daughter and soon to be 2nd daughter on the way. We knew absolutely NOBODY in Palm Coast. My husband had taken a job working on telecommunication towers, which unfortunately had him working all over the East Coast, away from home. I had thought maybe I can get my real-estate license and help bring in some money while my husband worked away, but my neighbor had informed me that there were “too many realtors in this town” so it shut down my dreams of becoming a realtor. I began working as a pre-school teacher and was employed there for around 3 years before I had resigned as my heart was no longer in it. I then started an at Home Bakery called Mrs. Confections, which that I had decided wasn’t for me. During all of this my husband still worked away from home usually 3 months away and 1 week home. I had to find out some way to help bring enough income to make it so he could stop working away from home. I was sitting there one day and told my husband maybe I’ll just start doing door dash and he told me “Virginia why don’t you get your real estate licenses you’ve been thinking about for years” well the rest is history…. I obtained my Real Estate license in 2023 and have truly felt that this is my calling. Prior to moving into Palm Coast I worked in the Hospitality industry. I am very big on customer service. Between that and the teaching background it has allowed me to be the very best Relator I can be. By delivering top notch service it has allowed me to be in the top 11% of Relators in Flagler County. I have two beautiful children and incredible husband, 2 chihuahuas and 2 cats. We love spending our time at the Humane Society and playing with the animals. We actually adopted both of our cats from the Humane Society. We love to travel and hike in the mountains when we can as I’m from Missoula (a city surrounded by mountains.) My husband and I also love riding our motorcycle when we can. I love life and like to be that positive light in everyones life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Riding a rollers coaster on fire, while you’re on fire, while everything else around you on fire sums up my journey. It has been one of the most emotional roads I’ve traveled and I’ve gone through a whirlwind. I jumped into Real Estate in 2023 which was the start of the decline in the market. Every years I’ve had my license I’ve been told this is the worst year we’ve had in a while. I’ve found that connecting with others and relating to others it has gotten me through a lot of the struggles, that and praying regularly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Realtor with Realty Exchange in Flagler County Florida. I help people buy and sell their home in this beautiful place we are blessed to call home, Florida. I specialize in helping people get their current home market ready in order to sell. What sets me apart form other realtors is my husband and I own a handyman remodeling company which allows my sellers access to 25+ years of residential commercial expertise. We are able to come in and make their house look absolutely beautiful so they can net more money in the long run. I am also a very customer centric realtor. I always go above and beyond to make sure the sale or purchase of their home is a smooth and memorable one. I think 3 steps ahead that way we are proactive vs reactive. I love what I do and that definitely shows in my work.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Real estate is an evolving industry. It is constantly changing and evolving. I think now that AI is taking over it will make it easier to find a home on your own vs hiring a realtor. I think to be successful in my industry I need to adapt to the changes and use AI to my advantage. AI may take over task but it will never take over the customer service and experience that I offer my clients. I hope we have another big housing boom and that more people can afford housing in the near future.
