Daily Inspiration: Meet Reannen Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reannen Dixon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first started out in college at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. After deciding school was way too expensive for my mom, I decided to drop out after year 1 and pursued cosmetology school…which I always had an interest in. Upon finishing up hair school, I found out I was pregnant. Something in me felt like I owed it to my child to grind and really make something of myself. After passing my state boards, immediately got my first job at Supercuts which taught me so much especially in the haircutting and color area. I applied what I learned from hair school, and Supercuts along with things I learned from YouTube and practicing on family and friends to become the stylist I am today. I am originally from the 757…Hampton roads area of Virginia but as I started to grow as a woman, the city felt so small and I felt like I needed something new. I felt the need to move and start over fresh. I ended up moving to Jacksonville, Florida with my father. For a while before building my clientele here I felt like I made the wrong move. Things were slow until I finally decided to just put myself out there. I stayed true to my work and skill and clients eventually found me. Today I can say that I am gratefully booked and busy and this move to Jacksonville was one of the best choices I ever made. It’s only up from here

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely was not a smooth road. When I first moved here I actually had a couple of retail jobs before finding my clientele. I HATED IT. I was an entrepreneur before I moved to Jacksonville and it was hard to conform back to working for someone as well as a huge pay cut. I knew something had to change and soon

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Since becoming a licensed cosmetologist, I’ve always specialized in a wide range of skills like hair color, chemical services, extensions, natural hair and cutting. My clients come to me for more than just 1 thing. Although life does happen at times, I pride myself in mostly being dependable, reliable, honest and still providing quality service to all my clients

What are your plans for the future?
I try to plan my future but it never works. For now I am just working on strengthening my brand, creating brand deals, creating quality content, creating passive income, and taking classes to sharpen skills. The more I sharpen myself I feel as if the best opportunities will come knocking at my door. I’m so optimistic that only the best is yet to come
