Hi Mark, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Early Life and Family
I began my life in Michigan, where I experienced many significant milestones, including marriage and raising my family. My family now consists of my daughters Melanie and Alicia, both of whom are married to men named Joshua, and my daughter Mikayla. I also have two sons, Aaron and Joshua. Our family has grown to include a grandson, who, fittingly, is also named Joshua. Alongside my wife Karla, we share our home with our beloved dog, Penny.
Educational and Professional Background
My academic journey led me to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science in Marketing and an MBA in Management. Leveraging these qualifications, I began my career in landscaping in Michigan. Later, I transitioned to Florida, where the climate is notably different—especially since there is no need for snow removal services.
Relocating to Florida and Community Involvement
Four years ago, my family and I made the move from Michigan to Florida, and we have truly come to love living in this wonderful state. Despite the relocation, my sports loyalties remain with Michigan, particularly with the University of Michigan and the ever-improving Detroit Lions. In addition to my professional pursuits, I serve as president of the Red Caps, a volunteer group dedicated to raising funds to support local community needs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life often presents unexpected challenges. For many years, I dedicated myself to working at a custodial service company in Michigan. My role there fostered a strong and steady background in the service industry.
Everything changed when an investment company acquired the business. The new owners decided to restructure the entire organization, leading to significant changes. As part of this process, the sales department was eliminated, and I found myself without a job.
This unexpected turn of events opened the door to a new opportunity. Drawing on my experience and reliability developed in the service industry, I transitioned into the landscaping field. It was through these skills and my work ethic that I found my place in this new industry, shaping the path that brought me to where I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my current role, I have the unique opportunity to connect with a wide range of industries and professionals. This exposure has broadened my understanding of different business environments and allowed me to continually expand my professional network.
Colleagues and clients alike have recognized my exceptional skills in cold calling. I am consistently praised for my ability to think creatively and employ innovative strategies to reach potential clients. My approach involves exploring new methods and perspectives to ensure successful outreach and engagement.
Among my professional qualities, I am most proud of my strong work ethic. I approach every situation with honesty and integrity, making it a priority to view circumstances from the client’s perspective. This commitment to ethical behavior and empathy has been fundamental to building trust and achieving positive outcomes in my interactions.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Open and honest communication has been a significant contributing factor to my success. Although people may sometimes prefer not to hear unpleasant news, they generally value honesty and transparency. Being upfront, especially when a promise cannot be fulfilled, is always preferable to concealing the truth. This approach fosters trust and respect, even in challenging situations.
