Rising Stars: Meet Marco Guardado of North East Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Guardado.

Hi Marco, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Honduras and came to the United States when I was four years old. My childhood changed drastically around the age of twelve when my stepfather was deported. Overnight, I had to step up. I started working after school as a carpenter’s helper, not because I wanted extra spending money, but because my family needed it. Everything I earned went toward helping my mom pay bills.

I didn’t really get the chance to grow up the way most kids do. Working at that age forced me to mature quickly, but it also shaped who I am today. Being on job sites taught me responsibility, discipline, and the value of hard work. Over time, I began learning the trade—how to build, how to problem-solve, and how to take pride in creating something with my hands. What started as necessity eventually became a passion. Year after year, I grew in skill and confidence.

During that same season of life, I found the Lord, and my faith grew exponentially. My relationship with God gave me purpose, direction, and stability during a time when everything else felt uncertain. Faith became the foundation for how I live, work, and lead.

Today, I own and operate Flocon Contractors LLC. We specialize in residential and commercial construction—from remodels to additions and everything in between. Our mission is simple: to give people the experience they deserve and help turn their ideas and dreams into reality. We started Flocon not just to build structures, but to build trust.

Alongside my work in construction, I also serve as an assistant pastor at Flagler County Baptist Church. Investing in the next generation is very important to me. I try to pour into young people the same way others poured into me—teaching them responsibility, faith, and the belief that their past does not define their future.

Everything I do today is rooted in where I came from, what I learned along the way, and the faith that carried me through it all.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a company is scary, especially when so much is on the line. There were moments of uncertainty, long nights, and real fear of failure. I’ve poured countless hours into building this business, and there have been tears along the way—times when the pressure felt overwhelming.

One of the biggest challenges has been competing in a market where not everyone is licensed or operating the right way. That can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to do things with integrity. But I’ve learned that consistency, honesty, and doing quality work always rise to the top in the long run.

Through it all, having the right people around me and leaning on my faith has made all the difference. I truly believe that when you work hard, stay grounded, and trust God, things work out the way they’re supposed to. Every struggle has helped shape the business—and me—into what we are today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We handle both residential and commercial construction, specializing in remodels, additions, concrete work, and interior build-outs. From start to finish, we focus on doing projects the right way—licensed, insured, and with attention to detail. Our goal is always to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible for the client.

What we’re known for is integrity and quality. We communicate clearly, show up when we say we will, and stand behind our work. A lot of people can build, but not everyone builds with honesty and accountability. That’s something I take very seriously.

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the projects we’ve completed, but the reputation we’ve built. Many of our jobs come from repeat customers and referrals, and that means everything to me. It tells me people trust us with their homes, businesses, and investments.

What sets me apart is my background and my approach. I grew up working in construction out of necessity, so I understand the value of hard work and earning every opportunity. I’m also personally involved in every project—estimating, planning, and communication—so clients aren’t just handed off to someone else. On top of that, my faith guides how I run my business. I believe in doing things with integrity, treating people fairly, and serving others well. That combination of experience, hands-on leadership, and values is what truly separates us from the rest.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is delivering quality results and maintaining my faith in God. Quality matters because people are trusting me with their homes, businesses, and hard earned money. I believe every project should be done right, with care, integrity, and attention to detail no shortcuts.

My faith matters just as much because it guides how I live and how I lead. It shapes my work ethic, my honesty, and how I treat people. When challenges come up and they always do my faith keeps me grounded and reminds me why I do what I do. At the end of the day, I want my work and my life to reflect excellence, integrity, and trust.
