Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Gasperson.
Hi Paul, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in the Philippines and grew up moving between Japan and the Philippines because my father was in the military. English was my second language, so for a long time I understood the world more through observation than words. I learned by watching, absorbing my environment, and figuring things out through experience.
After 9/11, my family moved to Orange Park, Florida. I was still young, but I took on a lot of responsibility early — helping around the house, working, and learning how to carry weight. My father taught me how to work with my hands, and that work ethic stayed with me.
I started working as a teenager and moved through many jobs — from food service and retail to construction — always performing well, but never feeling settled. When I found landscaping, something clicked. Being outdoors, working with nature, and building something tangible felt right.
After being laid off during a slow season, I decided to work for myself. I started small — door to door, Craigslist ads, basic equipment — and during the housing market crash, I found consistent work maintaining foreclosed properties. That period became a kind of boot camp, teaching me discipline, consistency, and how to build systems from the ground up.
Over time, that work expanded into larger commercial properties and long-term clients. Today, what I do is still rooted in those early lessons — observation, adaptability, and building things that last — but with a deeper emphasis on sustainability, presence, and integrity in both work and life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges early on was carrying responsibility before I fully understood how to take care of myself. I learned how to work hard very young, but I didn’t learn balance until much later.
As a business owner, the instability of seasonal work, economic downturns, and wearing every hat myself forced me into constant problem-solving mode. For a long time, I believed pushing harder was the answer — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Over time, that approach led to burnout and health challenges, which became a turning point. I had to confront how disconnected I was from my body and how much pressure I placed on myself to always perform and provide.
Learning to slow down, listen, and build systems that support sustainability — not just output — was one of the hardest but most important lessons. Those challenges reshaped how I work, how I lead, and how I show up in my personal life today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is rooted in practical craftsmanship, consistency, and long-term relationships. What started as basic lawn maintenance has grown into a full-service landscaping and outdoor solutions company serving both residential and commercial clients.
We specialize in landscape maintenance, property care, irrigation, and outdoor improvements, with an emphasis on reliability and attention to detail. Over the years, I’ve worked on everything from small residential properties to large commercial sites, and that range taught me how to build systems that are efficient, durable, and adaptable.
What sets us apart is how we approach the work. I don’t see landscaping as just a service — it’s stewardship. Every property has its own rhythm, needs, and potential, and my goal is to understand that before making changes. That mindset comes from years of hands-on experience and learning what actually lasts over time.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is trust. Many of our clients have stayed with us for years because they know the work will be done with care, integrity, and clear communication. We don’t overpromise, and we don’t cut corners.
I want readers to know that behind the brand is someone who values sustainability — not just in landscapes, but in business and life. The focus is on creating outdoor spaces that are functional, healthy, and well-maintained, while building relationships that are just as solid.
Any big plans?
Moving forward, my focus is on simplicity and sustainability. I’ve run larger crews in the past, and while that experience taught me a lot, I realized it pulled too much time and energy away from the parts of the work — and life — that matter most to me.
I’m intentionally keeping the operation small and hands-on, with a growing focus on landscape lighting and specialty projects that allow for more creativity, precision, and long-term impact. That shift lets me deliver higher-quality work without burning out or overextending.
Alongside the business, I’m also exploring one-on-one coaching conversations around health, wellness, and nervous system regulation. My interest there comes from my own journey of healing — learning how the body, mind, and emotions are connected, and how much of our capacity comes from feeling regulated and grounded.
Overall, the direction ahead isn’t about getting bigger — it’s about getting clearer, healthier, and more aligned with how I want to live and work.
