Exploring Life & Business with Marissa Scott of United Real Estate Gallery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Scott.

Hi Marissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t grow up with much. My life began with heartbreak, losing my father to tragedy, being separated from my mother, and being raised by my grandparents in a small town in a third-world country. Everything I have today started from a place of survival, faith, and unshakable determination.

I learned early that nothing is guaranteed, but everything is possible with hard work and God’s grace.

When I came to the United States, I arrived with little English, no friends, no family, and no safety net. It was just me, my husband, and our growing family trying to build a life from the ground up. I had no blueprint, no connections, and no idea how difficult the journey ahead would be. But I carried something stronger than fear: a dream for a better life and the hope of creating opportunities no one in my family ever had.

Starting over in a new country was overwhelming, but it shaped me. I learned the language day by day. I worked harder than I thought possible. I pushed myself into rooms where I felt like the least qualified person. I fought for my place not just for me, but for the family counting on me.

Real estate became the platform that changed everything. What began as a way to support my family grew into a 18-year career as a top real estate agent in Northeast Florida, a mentor to others, and a woman trusted by clients throughout the community.

Motherhood deepened my purpose in every way. Raising my daughter CJ, who has special needs, transformed me and taught me strength, patience, courage, and a deeper understanding of love. Watching her grow, overcome challenges, and thrive has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

And my son JC has been another anchor in my journey. He has grown up watching me work, sacrifice, and persevere. He motivates me to set an example of resilience, integrity, and determination. Both of my children have shaped who I am, kept me grounded, and inspired me to keep pushing forward even on the hardest days.

Today, I stand where I am because I didn’t give up when life was unfair. I believed God had a bigger plan for me. I turned pain into purpose. And I kept going, especially when no one was watching.

My journey is far from perfect, but it is beautifully mine. And if it inspires even one person to keep dreaming, keep fighting, and keep believing, then every chapter was worth it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My path has never been easy, but every struggle has shaped the woman and leader I am today.
Coming to this country, I faced challenges that many immigrants quietly carry, being picked on for my accent, my culture, and simply for being different. Instead of breaking me, those moments taught me resilience and grace. They strengthened my voice and gave me a deeper compassion for those who feel unseen.

At the same time, I was raising two young children while my husband was deployed in the military. I learned to balance courage with exhaustion, independence with loneliness, and responsibility with love. I became the steady foundation my family needed, even when I felt overwhelmed.

On top of it all, I carried one of my life’s greatest callings being the sole caregiver to my special needs daughter. Navigating therapies, appointments, advocacy, and daily care required a level of strength I didn’t know I had. She has been my biggest challenge and my greatest teacher. She taught me patience, purpose, and what unconditional love truly looks like.

These experiences didn’t harden me, they shaped me. They made me a fighter, a nurturer, a problem-solver, and a woman who refuses to quit. They taught me that success is built not just on talent, but on perseverance, sacrifice, and faith.

And today, I stand grateful: not because my journey was easy, but because I survived it, grew from it, and now use it to empower others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
No career is built alone, and I am grateful for the people who have shaped mine. My husband and kids are the foundation of everything I do. Their patience, encouragement, and belief in me, especially through the long hours, tough seasons, and unpredictable realities of real estate gave me the strength to keep growing. From the beginning of my career, my mentor and former broker, Stan Bishop, played a pivotal role. When I was with Exit Real Estate Gallery, he believed in my potential before I fully saw it in myself. He taught me the fundamentals of leadership, sales, systems, and mindset that still guide me today. I am just as grateful for the support I receive now at United Real Estate Gallery. My brokers and admin team, Sonny Downey, Ray Rivera, and Nanci Soriano created an environment where I am empowered to lead, grow, and serve at a higher level. Their guidance, trust, and partnership have been instrumental in elevating my business and my impact in the real estate community. I also credit my Pastor, Jason Cullum, who keeps me grounded and centered in my faith. His leadership and spiritual guidance remind me that my work has a greater purpose and that every opportunity to serve others is a blessing. Together, these individuals have shaped my journey, strengthened my character, and helped me become the professional and person I am today.
