An Inspired Chat with Ana Hernandez of Ocala

Ana Hernandez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Ana, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
I’ve always been learning from my mother and especially now. My mom is the most spiritually connected and devoted person I know, she was a pastor and teacher. Mom taught me a lot about seeking the Divine and connecting with unconditional love. Now that my mom is experiencing Demetia, we can’t have the conversations we used to have however, the way she is moving through this experience is teaching me how to be present through the changes, the loss, and the unknown. Mom has forgotten many things from the basics of taking care of herself, using utensils to eat, walking, and even reading. Through all this loss and change, the one thing that has remained constant in her is her ability to love and be joyful. Every body she sees she tells them she loves them and gets so happy to see them. When she sees me she remembers me and my name and she behaves like an innocent child laughing and singing. For many people this can be hard to see yet for me, yes I do get sad that I can’t have the same mom as I’ve had growing up but I;m happy that I get to experience this joyful, pure love side of my mom. She’s teaching me that her true self is always present in spite of the outer changes. Love is eternal.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Ana Hernandez and I work holistically to support people through the effects of trauma such as anxiety, depression, and nervous system deregulation. I help people create balance in their life through Yoga, Ayurveda, Meditation, Reiki and Mindfulness.
I have worked in Trauma Recovery facilities in group settings as well as individual sessions. I enjoy listening to people’s story, concerns and work with them to create a wellness daily routine that covers their diet, habits, sleep cycles, and best practices. I cater each session and routine not only to the individual’s needs, yet also by their individual constitution and bringing that in harmony with nature.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I used to believe that I was strange and couldn’t bring anything of value to anyone. I didn’t quit fit in with the crowds and didn’t understand why I saw things differently from everyone else. Now I understand that the way I see is unique and that uniqueness is valuable because it gives a different perspective in the world. We can’t all see the same thing or else we will be blind to the whole. My uniqueness is very valuable to the world, just like everyone else’s unique ability’s are.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds in my life have been the times when I have lost those that I loved and the lost of lifestyle or paths. Every loss comes with grief and that pain has shown me how much love is within my heart, the pain has broken my heart wide open. That openness has shown me that I can love someone so profoundly even when they have hurt me, it’s taught me to forgive, to be empathetic. Loss teaches you to be present, to surrender, to trust and let go. In allowing myself to witness these experiences of loss and pain, it has not only healed me, it has expanded me.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
That we are highly spiritual beings, unbounded yet chose to bound ourselves in the physical to evolve and experience life, love and all it brings. We are capable of so much then what we’ve been told.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace at my home with my fur babies. I have a dog and two cats, I enjoy sitting in my garden with them, watching them play and playing with them. Animals and nature have always been very healing for me and at home I surround myself with it.
