Inspiring Conversations with Dawn Grant of Amelia Shotgun Sports/Dawn Grant Mental Training and Hypnosis Meditation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Grant.

Hi Dawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began with a deep desire to help others overcome the limitations of their minds and unlock their full potential. From a very young age, I was drawn to understanding human behavior, emotions, and the power of thought. That curiosity became a passion, which then led to a calling.

In the early 2000s, I opened my private practice as a mental trainer and board-certified hypnotist. At the time, hypnosis and mental training weren’t widely understood or accepted-especially in the performance world-but I felt strongly that the mind was the gateway to lasting change. I knew in my heart that mindset and belief systems were shaping people’s reality more than they realized.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with people from all walks of life—athletes, entrepreneurs, everyday individuals-all striving for excellence, peace, or healing. Some of my most visible clients have been Olympic and Team USA athletes, and working with them has affirmed what I teach: success is 90% mental. That belief has been foundational to my work.

As my client base expanded globally, I began creating custom hypnosis meditations and launched the Mind Mastered app to give people tools they could use daily to reprogram their subconscious. I also became the owner of Amelia Shotgun Sports, where I offer mental training clinics in a real-world, high-performance environment.

I’m also deeply committed to service, and co-founded Joy To The Children, a nonprofit that provides love and resources to underprivileged kids during the holidays. That work has grounded me and reminded me of what really matters: love, presence, and purpose.

Looking back, it wasn’t a straight path. It was a heart-led one. I followed what felt true, even when it didn’t make sense to others. I trusted the inner voice that said, “You’re here to help people awaken to their power.” And that continues to guide everything I do today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Like most entrepreneurial journeys, mine has had its share of challenges.

When I began as a mental trainer and hypnotherapist over 20 years ago, the concepts of mindset mastery and hypnosis were often misunderstood. Educating the public while building credibility took time and perseverance. I had to let results speak louder than skepticism.

There were also the typical entrepreneurial hurdles-building a client base, scaling my services, managing the demands of running multiple ventures, including a private practice, a shooting sports facility, and a nonprofit. Balancing innovation with business structure hasn’t always been easy.

But every obstacle forced me to evolve-both personally and professionally. I leaned into the same tools I teach: mental clarity, presence, and belief work. That’s what’s helped me stay aligned with my mission, grow my brand, and continue serving at a high level.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I operate two complementary businesses that both center around one mission: helping people achieve peak performance and personal freedom through mental training.

Dawn Grant Mental Training & Hypnosis Meditation is my private practice, which I’ve run since 2001. I specialize in helping high achievers-athletes, entrepreneurs, professionals, and anyone seeking real change-break through mental blocks and reprogram limiting beliefs. Using a blend of mindset coaching, hypnosis, guided meditation, and neuroscience-based tools, I help clients shift into greater focus, confidence, and inner peace. I’m best known for my work with Olympic and Team USA athletes, but my methods apply to anyone ready to optimize their mind and life. I also created the Mind Mastered app, a digital platform for mental training and custom hypnosis, making these tools accessible worldwide.

Amelia Shotgun Sports, based in Yulee, Florida, is a clay shooting range I own and operate, and it serves as a real-world training ground for the mental performance work I teach. It’s a one-of-a-kind facility where shooters can experience my teachings in action—combining sport psychology, mindfulness, and technical training. We host clinics, workshops, and events that integrate mental mastery with the physical skill of shooting sports.

What sets both brands apart is our commitment to inner work as the foundation for outer success. Many coaches focus solely on performance outcomes. I go deeper-to the subconscious patterns that create those outcomes. Whether it’s on the shooting range or in someone’s personal life, I help people master their minds so they can master their results.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of staying aligned with my core values: authenticity, empowerment, and transformation. I’ve built a reputation for delivering lasting change-not just quick fixes-and for creating a safe space where people feel seen, understood, and capable of becoming their best selves.

What I want readers to know is this: You don’t have to be stuck. Change is possible. You have the ability to rewire your thinking, elevate your performance, and find joy in the process-and I have the tools and experience to help you get there.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about our city is the sense of community and connection to nature. Being based in Northeast Florida, I’m surrounded by both the peacefulness of the outdoors and people who truly value well-being, growth, and meaningful living. There’s a calm energy here that supports the kind of deep, inner work I do.

As for what I like least-I’d say the lack of awareness or accessibility around mental wellness resources in some parts of our community. There’s still a lot of work to do in normalizing conversations about mindset, emotional health, and the tools that truly help people thrive. But that’s also what fuels my mission-to be part of the solution and help shift that narrative locally and beyond.
