Maija C. Hahn, M.S., CCC-SLP shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Maija C., a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building, that most people don’t see, is a movement of courage among parents, professionals, and children who have been silenced. My work isn’t about titles or recognition; it’s about giving a voice to the voiceless; children who can’t communicate, parents who’ve been dismissed, and healthcare workers afraid to speak truth.
Behind the scenes, I’ve spent years connecting people who thought they were alone; building networks of advocacy, education, and healing. Whether it’s a mom learning her child’s first words through Spelling to Communicate, a legislator finally hearing the truth about SIDS and vaccine injury, or a doctor finding the courage to stand for informed consent. Those unseen victories are what I’m proudest of.
I’ve built trust. I’ve built bridges between science and humanity. And I’ve built hope in places where people had almost given up. That’s the work no one sees, but it’s the most important thing I do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Maija C. Hahn, M.S., CCC-SLP. I am a speech-language pathologist, Spelling for Communication practitioner for nonspeakers, and am the lead organizer for the MAHA Florida Coalition for Health Freedom. I also serve as Vice-President of REACT; Research and Education for Autistic Children’s Treatment, and as the Florida leader for Children’s Health Defense. I founded the healthcare workers advocacy group United for Healthcare Workers, which united helathcare workers in solidarity against COVID-19 Vaccine mandates, and I own and practice speech pathology services at Encore Speech & Wellness in Merritt Island, Florida; serving my community with communication access.
My passion is advocacy. I raise the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves. I fight for disability rights and communication access for nonspeaking individuals. I work to protect children’s health, promote informed consent, and bring truth into conversations that are often uncomfortable but necessary.
What makes my work unique is that it bridges science, medicine, and humanity. I am both a clinician and an activist. I host medical and autism conferences, educate lawmakers and doctors, and write legislation to protect children. This year, I authored two Florida bills: SB 188, known as the Medical Examiner’s Duties SIDS bill, which requires Medical Examiners to reference and report recent vaccinations anytime a child dies suddenly and unexpectedly. I also wrote the Communication Bill of Rights giving people with communication disabilities the right to access their communication method of choice.
Everything I do comes to one purpose; to save lives and to protect children. It is not just my work; it is my purpose and what God has tasked me to do.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was simply a wife and a mother. I wanted to raise my children, help others, and live a good, honest life. As a speech-language pathologist, I began working with severely affected children with autism, and for decades I listened to the same heartbreaking story again and again — “my perfectly developing child regressed after vaccines.”
For 30 years I carried those stories with me, offering support, therapy, and compassion. But when my own children were injured — not once, but three times — everything changed. I could no longer just listen. I had to be the change. That moment transformed me from a clinician into an advocate, from a mother into a warrior for truth and protection of children’s health.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
For years it felt like no one was truly listening. Lawmakers dismissed my concerns, and even parents and teachers would roll their eyes when I spoke about vaccine injury and informed consent. Still, I kept speaking because the truth mattered, and the children mattered.
When the COVID vaccine mandates came, the world began to shift. More and more people, including lawmakers, started seeking answers. They turned to people like me, who had been studying vaccine safety and health freedom for decades, to provide the data, the truth, and the real-life stories that had been ignored for too long.
Finally, the public, and even many doctors, began asking hard questions about product safety, captured regulatory agencies, and the propaganda that had silenced so many voices. When that door finally opened, I walked through it with purpose.
Now lawmakers not only listen, they act. They stand behind the legislative initiatives I bring forward. To me, that is living proof that persistence, truth, and courage can move mountains.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is truth, integrity, and protecting children. They would probably say they have no idea how I do so much. They often joke that I must be part alien or have a few hidden clones helping me out. They know I care deeply about giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves and standing up for what is right, even when it is hard or unpopular.
They would tell you that I live and breathe my mission to protect children’s health and defend informed consent.
They would also say that I value faith, family, and courage. That I don’t give up when things get difficult. That I will fight fiercely for a child’s right to communicate, a parent’s right to choose, and a doctor’s right to practice without coercion. Above all, they would say my heart is in saving lives and creating a safer, healthier future for all children.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People will likely misunderstand my legacy because so much of it has been built in the face of outright hostility. I have been called a terrorist, compared to a plague, spat on, cursed at, and threatened — all for simply questioning the safety of vaccines.
I have seen these products harm children and patients around the world, sometimes even killing them, and I cannot stay silent. My work is not for fame or recognition. It is about speaking the truth, protecting children, and giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Lawmakers get the credit, doctors get the attention, and the mainstream media often demonizes mothers like me.
My legacy will not be measured by headlines or applause. It will be measured in the lives saved, the families supported, and the truths that finally broke through fear and lies.
