Conversations with Rayvon Griffin-Bright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayvon Griffin-Bright.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts right here in Jacksonville. I was born and raised in DUUUVAL and creativity has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. But it wasn’t until my senior project in college at the University of Central Florida that Rayvon Creates was born. Back in 2014 I knew I wanted to build something that blended all the things that make me feel alive. Photography, makeup artistry, graphic design, and simply helping people see themselves in their best light.

For more than ten years I have had the honor of working with thousands of clients. I built my business from the ground up, one photoshoot, one face beat, and one design at a time. Growing a Black owned business in Jacksonville has had its challenges, but every step taught me resilience, discipline, and how to stand on my integrity. My business grew because people trusted me. They trusted my vision and that trust became the heartbeat of Rayvon Creates.

Life has changed along the way. I became a wife to my husband Kenny, a mom to my daughter Rayna and a cat mom to Sophie and Shadow. Those roles shaped me and pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. No matter what obstacles I have faced, I stay rooted in why I started. To create art from the heart, to show people their beauty, and to use my gift to serve my community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has had incredible highs, but it has also come with challenges that tested me in ways I never expected. One of the biggest was becoming the face of a lawsuit after being deceived in a business situation that affected many people in our community. Carrying that weight was not easy. I found myself fighting not only for my own justice but also for people who did not have the strength, the resources, or the support to speak up.

Being publicly associated with a case like that changes you. It forces you to stand firm in your truth even when it is uncomfortable. It forces you to stay grounded in integrity when others try to silence you. I learned what it means to advocate for myself and, at the same time, represent so many others who were impacted. It was heavy, it was stressful, and it required a level of courage I did not know I had.

I overcame those challenges through prayer, documentation, staying rooted in facts, and continuing to show up for myself and my business. I realized that telling the truth, protecting others, and standing on principle is never something to be ashamed of. It shaped me into a stronger woman, a more intentional entrepreneur, and someone who knows the power of using her voice.

That experience taught me resilience and reminded me that even the hardest seasons can be used for good. It also fueled my purpose even more. When people come to me, whether for photos, makeup, or branding, they know they are working with someone who stands on integrity, who has been tested, and who still chooses to create from the heart.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Rayvon Creates is more than a service. It is an experience. It is a safe space where people know they will be respected, celebrated, and cared for. I bring over ten years of experience in makeup artistry, photography, and graphic design, and I am intentional with every detail. My clients know that I take my time, I listen to their vision, and I deliver work that reflects who they are. Our most popular packages are our bundle deals which allows you to combine our makeup and photography services in one unforgettable session.

What makes my brand special is the heart behind it. My goal is always to create art that feels personal. Whether I am photographing a birthday, a branding session, a maternity moment, or a family celebration, I make sure my clients feel seen and appreciated. I want people to know that everything I do is rooted in authenticity. I do not chase trends for the sake of trends. I create what feels true to me and true to my clients. I care about the experience as much as I care about the final product.

I want people to know that I am constantly evolving as an artist, a mother, and a businesswoman. I pour my heart into every makeup look, every photo, and every project because I know these moments last forever. That is why people come back. They know they are getting someone who genuinely cares. My tagline says it all. Rayvon Creates art from the heart.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people do not know about me or my brand is that I work out of a very untraditional setting. My studio is actually inside a rental home, and I build almost every scene myself from scratch. Whether it is a themed setup, a holiday backdrop, or a custom creative concept, I design it with props that I personally source or with digital graphics that I hand create.

A lot of people assume I work out of a big commercial studio, but the truth is I built Rayvon Creates with intention, creativity, and resourcefulness. I learned how to maximize small spaces, how to design sets that photograph beautifully, and how to give my clients a full studio experience without needing a traditional building.

It has taught me that you do not need a fancy location to produce high quality work. All you need is skill, vision, and the willingness to create from the heart. My clients love the comfort, the intimacy, and the intentionality of my space, and I take pride in turning an ordinary environment into something magical.
