Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Felegy.
Hi lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my cookie business more as a hobby than anything. I needed something to calm my mind and soul after a breast cancer diagnosis.
Soon after , I was getting requests for custom cookies, for birthdays and baby showers.
Thankfully my customers kept me busy because in 2022 I received a heart transplant. I leaned in and taught myself a lot during that really rough time in my life. My husband was (and still is) extremely supportive. He likes to tell people he is the cleaning department, lol. It really is a partnership and I guess being married for over 30 years helps.
So at this point in Beachy business, I am expanding a little bit and getting in to cakes. Nothing crazy like weddings. They still scare me. I also will be starting a Limited Edition line. Cookies based off of cities. My first release will be for Christmas and it will feature New York City.
I am very excited to see where this takes me. Beachy Bakes saved my sanity. My donor and his family saved my life. And for that, I am forever grateful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I really can’t complain about a rough road. A huge majority of my clients are extremely supportive and I love them!! They play a big part in teaching me about my business.
Of course there are the occasional ones who ghost, or cancel. But for the most part, it’s been great!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been creative, even as a little girl. I always wanted those scented markers for Christmas and a big drawing pad.
I went to college at the University of the Arts in Phila and graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design. After graduation I was blessed to get a job at Air Products in Allentown, PA. I credit that job for learning the ins and outs of corporate design.
I am thankful for my creative abilities, that’s when I feel the most alive!
Cookies are a big part of that.
I’m proud of taking my business to where it is today, even going outside of my comfort zome
Any big plans?
No big changes. Just learn as I go.
