Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Justice.
Hi Amy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Originally from the small town of Jesup, Georgia, I made my way to Jacksonville in 2000, where I built a life, started a family, and began pursuing my passion for helping others move and feel their best. I always knew I wanted to become a physical therapist, but I also needed a flexible path to get there—so I first earned my massage therapy license while working toward my long-term goals.
I completed my Bachelor of Health Science at the University of North Florida in 2008, then spent several years as a personal trainer and massage therapist, deepening my understanding of movement, strength, and recovery. My desire to do more for my clients led me to the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, where I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2013.
Over the years, I’ve worked in both outpatient and home health settings, but my heart has always been with active adults and higher-functioning patients who want to return to doing what they love. After years of seeing 15–20 patients a day in traditional outpatient care, I realized I wanted to provide a different kind of experience—one where every patient receives the focused, one-on-one attention they deserve. That vision led me to open my own practice in 2023.
As an active CrossFit enthusiast myself, it felt natural to open my first clinic inside a CrossFit gym in Green Cove Springs, followed by a second location in Orange Park in 2024. At our practice, we intentionally stay out of network so we can dedicate uninterrupted time to each patient, providing personalized care and full-body assessments that support true recovery and performance.
Helping people move better, feel stronger, and get back to the activities they love is not just my profession—it’s my passion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have learned a lot along the way. I faced quite a few obstacles along the way. During graduate school, I was a single parent, and balancing the demands of school, parenting, and work was no easy task. I truly couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of my parents—they were my foundation during that time.
Starting my own business in the healthcare field has also come with its share of challenges. In Florida, physical therapy practices must be invited to join insurance networks, and despite multiple applications, I was declined. Rather than letting that discourage me, I chose to focus on building genuine relationships and growing through word of mouth from my patients—past and present.
Working in healthcare is one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done, but it certainly requires resilience, adaptability, and a deep passion for helping others. Each challenge I’ve faced has ultimately strengthened my commitment to providing high-quality, individualized care.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our outpatient physical therapy clinic is dedicated to providing personalized, one-on-one care. I’m proud to be the only Board-Certified Clinical Sports Physical Therapist in Clay County. We’re passionate about helping people not only recover from injury but also return to — or maintain — their desired level of fitness.
As an athlete myself, I understand how important your goals are. That’s why I tailor every rehabilitation program to meet your individual needs, ensuring you can safely and confidently return to your sport. One of the most common mistakes I see is athletes returning too soon after an injury. To prevent setbacks, I perform specific, sport-focused testing to make sure you’re truly ready to get back to full performance.
In addition to physical therapy, I maintain my massage therapy license, offering sport-specific bodywork sessions designed to restore mobility, improve recovery, and enhance performance — no referral needed.
How do you think about happiness?
Sunshine, laughing with my friends, eating good food and achieving goals. I want to live life to my fullest potential and staying healthy is the best way to ensure that so I want to pass that on to my patients!
