Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Floyd.
Hi Julia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my journey in aesthetics in 2009 while completing my master’s degree in anesthesia. During that time, I had a mentor who introduced me to the field and helped me gain hands-on experience by working nights and weekends in aesthetics alongside my clinical anesthesia training. After graduating, I continued administering anesthesia at Tampa General Hospital, while growing my passion for aesthetics.
In 2016, I returned home to the Gainesville area and began working independently, balancing both aesthetic services and anesthesia work at various practices. By 2018, my aesthetic business had grown to the point where I made the decision to leave full-time anesthesia and dedicate myself entirely to the aesthetics field.
After several years of renting and providing services out of different offices, I opened my first Elite Medispa location in Trenton, Florida, in 2022. Just 6 months later, I expanded with a second office in Newberry. Today, our practice offers a full range of injectable aesthetic treatments, facial services, laser therapies, and wellness programs including weight loss and hormone replacement therapy. We continue to grow, recently adding our fifth and sixth FDA approved lasers to better serve our clients.
I am deeply committed to continuing education and staying on the leading edge of the aesthetic industry. I regularly attend advanced training courses, cadaver labs, and international conferences to expand my knowledge and bring the most innovative techniques and treatments back to my patients.
I currently work five days a week and stay deeply involved in every aspect of the practice, but I always make time for my children. i truly love what I do and feel incredibly grateful to have built a career that combines my medical background, creativity, and passion for helping others feel their best. This journey has been filled with continuous education, growth, and meaningful experiences-and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t always been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges-especially in the early years when i was balancing anesthesia work, motherhood, and trying to build something of my own. There were long nights, constant learning curves, and times when i questioned whether it was all possible. Renting spaces and moving between offices taught me a lot about resilience, adaptability, and what it really takes to grow a business from the ground up. Opening my own locations came with new hurdles-licensing, staffing, marketing, and managing every detail-but each challenge pushed me to become a better leader and provider. Looking back, I’m proud of the obstacles because they shaped the business and confidence I have today.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding the right mentor can truly change the direction of your career. For me, having someone early on who believed in me and took the time to teach me the art and science behind aesthetics made all the difference. My advice would be to stay curious and humble-always be willing to learn, ask questions, and seek out people who are where you want to be. the best mentors are often generous with their knowledge, but the also recognize passion and commitment in others.
Networking in this industry isn’t just about connections- its about relationships. I’ve built some of my most valuable professional friendships by attending conferences, hands on trainings, and educational events around the country (and internationally). When you show up, stay engaged, and support others, the right people naturally find their way into your circle.
