Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Joy Snelen.
Hi Melody Joy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is vast with so much more to it than meets the eye! My journey definitely has many layers including hustling from a very young age, being a high performance tennis athlete—top ranked junior to earning a professional world ranking, coaching tennis–all ages and skill sets, being a model/actress—with commercials and print work making it all around the world, owning a local boutique (since 2016 with my twin sister) and all this prior to my entrance into the world of real estate and becoming a Ponte Vedra Beach based luxury real estate agent/Realtor.
These experiences trained me to navigate complex situations, work seamlessly with diverse personalities and cultures, and bring creativity to problem-solving. The amount of discipline, patience, and skills I developed through these avenues, with years of serving others are rare qualities that not everyone can say they possess — and they are now highly valuable assets I bring to every real estate transaction.
Today, I’m proud to serve the entire Jacksonville metroplex including, Ponte Vedra Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach communities as a real estate agent. As well as, a boutique owner of KYDS Children’s Boutique (located at the Beaches Town Center in Neptune Beach, Florida), having built my careers on service, relationships, and resilience.
I am so incredibly grateful for every single one of my clients and customers, and I work incredibly hard for them, bringing strategy, professionalism, and passion for excellence to each transaction. With my ultimate goal to help make the home buying and selling process as seamless and enjoyable as possible, all leading to successful and positive outcomes.
My motto is:
“Working enthusiastically for you, is what I love to do!”
And be sure to “Buy and sell with, Mel!”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had many, many obstacles and challenges to overcome throughout my life—I won’t elaborate, as I don’t want to give them energy, but I will say that each one has strengthened me. Thankfully, those situations have only added fuel to my fire, and broadened my awareness and compassion for others. Maintaining my mindset of optimism and positivity (one of my favorite books is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale), I feel has carried over into all aspects of my life. And I believe that extra edge has helped me close some deals that had all the cards stacked against them.
With each challenge and obstacle, it has prepared me to perform under pressure, give attention to detail, be persistent, value the importance of taking initiative, have a global perspective, stay positive in light of adversity… these qualities are my backbone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a luxury real estate agent/Realtor servicing all of Jacksonville and the surrounding area and beaches!
Additionally, I’m a local business owner of KYDS Children’s Boutique in Neptune Beach , it’s a sis-and-sis shop as I co-own with my identical twin sister.
Our shop carries pretty much something for everyone!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in Arlington, Texas, and being born as an identical twin meant I was blessed with not only a built-in best friend, a built-in business partner but also a built-in tennis partner!!
I developed deep rooted grit and ambition as a child, some of my earliest memories are when I would sell aloe Vera plants and homemade crafts door-to-door at the age of seven years old to running a babysitting and cleaning business with my twin sister by the age of twelve. We gained certifications and marketed throughout our local neighborhoods with official flyers– often working 10+ hour days.
Coming from a financially challenged family, I developed a strong work ethic, along with service and sales-driven mindset early in life. This has also led to my constant desire to learn and grow daily. While I have an accounting degree, to me education is an ongoing pursuit—and not a finish line. Especially in our ever-changing world, that is why I also consider adaptability to be one of my strengths.
My faith has been central to who I am. And my life experiences have taught me not only to work hard but also to be creative, focused, and grateful for every opportunity.
My love for people and different cultures runs deep. Having traveled to 47 states and 24 countries, and participating in mission trips to Guatemala, opened my eyes to the value of service and the importance of giving back. Here in Jacksonville, I carry that same heart for community into supporting local charities and fundraising events.
Looking back, I can see how every piece of my childhood and early career — from selling crafts as a little girl, to competing on the tennis court, to stepping into modeling, and business — prepared me for the life I lead today.
At the core, it’s always been about hard work, service, and connection, and those values continue to guide me both personally and professionally. And here I am now, from a kid knocking on doors selling things to selling multi-million-dollar homes!! Living proof to never lose focus of your dreams! It can still happen no matter when or where you are able to start.
