Hidden Gems: Meet Kyana Schrack of Schrack and Co. Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyana Schrack.

Hi Kyana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in 2016 I (Kyana) started assisting a well known wedding photographer after I had completed a black and white film photography course. Photography had always been something I was drawn to, even as a child, but it felt more like a dream than a profession I could pursue.

Shortly after Logan and I started dating I had been contacted to capture my first wedding, and I brought him along with me to second shoot. Logan is a gifted painter and artist, and his natural eye for detail and perfection balanced my go-with-the-flow, documentary style approach. From that moment, we realized we loved working together, and together were able to create a beautiful fine art photography experience for our couples that blended the documentary style approach with an editorial flair.

Once we married, Logan and I officially launched Schrack & Co. Photography in 2020, it was a side hustle at that point, we were both working as hard as we could to grow it while also working our full time jobs, him as an HVAC technician and me as full time RN.

In 2022, our sister-in-law, Solansh Schrack, launched Schrack & Co. Events as her own creative outlet. With years of experience working in her family’s wedding venue, she brought incredible expertise in wedding planning and coordination, making it a natural extension of our family’s vision for serving couples.

Then, in 2023, Logan and I made the move from Brevard County to Gainesville, FL. Logan came on staff full-time at Calvary Chapel Gainesville. In that same season we took a leap of faith, I stepped away from my nursing career to pursue photography full time. Nursing allowed me the privilege of caring for people on their hardest days, but I found so much joy and fulfillment in celebrating people during their most joyous milestones.

Today, Schrack & Co. is more than just a business. It’s a family legacy rooted in creativity, service, and connection, which captures the memories and love that matter most to our clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth or easy road by any means. Being a business owner comes with its own challenges, you’re not clocking in and out or leaving work at the door. The lines between life and work often blur, and we’re still learning how to maintain healthy boundaries for our family. But there’s also a sweetness in that, our business feels deeply familial as our kids hear us talk through ideas, and watch us dream about the future, our four year old is now beginning to grow an interest in what we do as well which is so fun!

Like many entrepreneurs, one of our biggest struggles was finances. Creating a budget and sticking to it has been key in helping us grow steadily and sustainably. When we entered photography, we had no idea that there were other avenues of advertisement outside of the Knot and Wedding Wire. As a wedding photographer, you can pour a lot of resources into these advertising services which are not guarantees for lead conversion.

We hit a wall, and started to see our business begin to come to a dead halt after we moved. We pivoted and moved a different direction and focused on our networking with other vendors and started to see consistent bookings and growth for our business come from that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are Schrack & Co. Photography, a small business that photographs weddings and lifestyle sessions. We aim to document each client in a way that feels uniquely them while staying true to our effortless, timeless, and authentic approach.

We specialize in fine art wedding photography that blends the authenticity of documentary moments with the elegance of editorial imagery. Known for our bright, airy, film-inspired style, we create galleries that feel both modern and timeless. Our goal is to deliver galleries that are full of emotion, connection, and beauty but that remain iconic and memorable for years to come.

Beyond our signature style, what truly sets us apart is the connection we build with our couples. We don’t just show up to take photos, we believe investing into our clients is such a critical part of our business. Our job is to serve our clients and their needs first, above our own desires. We take time to get to know our clients, find out what matters most to them, and how they envision their wedding day. As a husband-and-wife team, we bring not only two unique creative perspectives but also a seamless rhythm that allows us to capture moments effortlessly together.

We’re most proud of how our brand reflects both artistry and heart. Every detail, from the way we approach film-inspired imagery to the experience we provide, has been thoughtfully curated to give our couples a photography experience that feels elevated and yet deeply personal to them.

We offer wedding photography collections designed with intentionality, providing coverage that allows couples to fully enjoy their day while knowing their story is being documented with care. Our services include wedding day coverage, rehearsal dinner photography, heirloom albums, and lifestyle sessions that honor all of life’s milestones. More than simply creating images, we believe photography is about preserving legacy and crafting art that feels authentically you. At the end of our lives, what we leave behind are the memories and the history we’ve created, and it’s our joy to help ensure those moments are beautifully documented and passed on for generations.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
With any small business there is always a risk involved. The risk of no’s, the risk of failing, the risk of losing everything. But, what carried us forward was our faith. We took a step of faith and risked giving up my (Kyana’s) career as a travel nurse in order to pursue photography full time. This decision was one that was made after lots of prayer and feeling the peace of God in moving forward in that direction which carried us through some of the fear of failure.

The other view on risk that has recently changed for us, is we once heard someone say that most people are just missing opportunities because they’re afraid to ask. And for our business this really helped us to move into the level of wedding photography this year. The worst that can happen is someone says no, but that doesn’t mean the opportunities aren’t there. We recently did a styled shoot which ended up getting published because we took the risk of asking to collaborate with other vendors in order to make the shoot a reality. It was incredible and honestly we were so surprised at how willing vendors are to work together to make creative dreams happen. All to say, if we had remained afraid to ask, we would’ve missed out on an incredible opportunity.
