Community Highlights: Meet Masha Sardari of Fearlessly Nourished

Today we’d like to introduce you to Masha Sardari.

Hi Masha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always been interested in food and its role in our lives. As a child, I spent my days in the fields on our family farm, exploring the winding rows of vegetables and tasting them straight off the stem. To this day, I hold those memories in a special place in my heart. I guess this is where it all began.

When I entered my teen years, my life shifted dramatically as I found myself in the tropical suburbs of Florida. Not only did my environment change geographically, but the entire food landscape shifted around me. I began learning about the U.S. food system through countless Netflix documentaries, and slowly, a fear of food developed. I broke trust with the very thing that had brought me such joy as a child.

No longer was being around food exciting and full of adventure. Instead, it became a place of tension, of “right” and “wrong.” I felt smothered by millions of conflicting opinions about what is “good” for us and what isn’t. Food became a moral dilemma.

After years of battling with food throughout my early twenties, I decided to take my story back and enrolled in a Nutrition program at UNF. I knew I wanted to continue healing my own relationship with food, but I also recognized that so many others were lost in the fear-mongering of social media, diet books, and the endless stream of information telling us we’re “out of control” and that the solution is yet another restrictive diet with the singular goal of shrinking ourselves.

After several years of working as a Dietitian, I finally found myself where I felt I belonged: working with clients with eating disorders. I found myself deeply understood and finally able to make a real difference in the lives of my patients.

Now, years later, I support people every single day in discovering what a healthy relationship with food looks like for them. No rules, diets, or judgment. Instead, we work on reconnecting with the inner wisdom living deep within each one of us. When we let the noise fade into the background, tune into our bodies, and listen to our needs, we find peace with food and our bodies.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I remember sitting at my computer in a beige, windowless office, doing a job that had nothing to do with why I became passionate about nutrition in the first place. Somewhere along the way, I had convinced myself that helping others heal their relationship with food was just a naive dream, that I needed to be “realistic” and settle for stability.

That’s when everything changed.

An opportunity landed in my inbox that terrified me. It demanded I leave behind the safety net I’d built, the predictable paycheck, the comfort of knowing exactly what each day would bring. There were no guarantees. No promise of success. Just a chance to step toward something that mattered.

I said yes anyway.

For two years, I threw myself into growth I never knew was possible. I was learning, evolving, finally moving toward work that felt like me. Then, without warning, it all crumbled. The company restructured. My position vanished. I was back to square one, watching my dream slip away again.

But this time was different.

Instead of retreating to another “safe” job, I made a decision that scared me more than anything I’d ever done: I would build something no one could take away from me. I would create a business where I (not some distant corporate structure) decided how to show up for the people who needed help.

The uncertainty hasn’t disappeared. Some days I question everything. But here’s what I know now that I didn’t know before: every single day, I wake up and serve people who are struggling with the same food battles I once faced. Every conversation matters. Every breakthrough, no matter how small, ripples out into someone’s life in ways I may never fully understand.

I traded predictability for purpose. And while the path still winds and climbs, I finally know I’m walking in the right direction.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m the owner and registered dietitian nutritionist at Fearlessly Nourished, a virtual private practice designed to serve clients struggling with their relationship with food and their body. I specialize in eating disorder recovery for ages 14 and up, and I’m known for being bold, daring, and encouraging my clients to take leaps of faith.
I teach my clients to move toward challenges and shift their thinking. Instead of viewing difficult changes as barriers, we reframe them as opportunities for growth and healing.
What sets my practice apart is our focus on breaking free from harmful social pressures. Rather than spending your life chasing false ideals, we work together to empower you to show up authentically as yourself. Your food choices are individual to you and should honor your unique needs, not become a source of shame and guilt. Your body is your vessel for exploring this world, not something to shrink, suppress, or edit to fit ever-changing standards.
If you’re struggling to find your way in this diet-centric world, I’m here for you. I offer one-on-one nutrition counseling for eating disorders and disordered eating, providing the support you need to reclaim your relationship with food and your body.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’m constantly inspired by the local food scene here. There are so many passionate and exciting small businesses focused on serving the community. A heartfelt shout-out to all the bakeries, cafes, and independently owned restaurants that bring such flavor and heart to our neighborhoods.
The community of mental health and nutrition professionals here is incredible. So many dedicated people working tirelessly to support, encourage, and serve those who are struggling. Thank you for all you do to make our community a place of healing and hope.
My one wish for our city is that we were more geographically connected. While there are countless vibrant small communities to be part of, they’re scattered across such distances that it can feel isolating. I hope for a day when these amazing spaces and people feel closer together, making it easier for everyone to connect without the barriers of distance.
