Hi Diamond, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing peace, happiness, and overwhelming support of my community. If I stopped today or tomorrow I genuinely feel like I let God and my community down, being great to people is a blessing and not doing the work is negligence.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Diamond B Wallace I’m 25 years young and I’m a believer, entrepreneur, a social and civil rights Activist, writer, and the current Vice President, co owner, and Founder of Jewels of The Future Inc
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother Renita. She was the first person to tell me I was born to be great! I can remember several occasions where I felt stuck, or overwhelmed by life, and when I would tell my mom she would always reassure me that she was proud of me and no matter what field I decided to land in I was going to be the best at it. She gave me powerful strength and the true spirit of resistance.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Your dreams, goals, and visions are for you to know about and support. The people closest to you love you because you’re you, maybe your wisdom, and even your journey, not because of your vision. Only YOU can describe the perfect vision for YOUR LIFE and a lot of people will not understand, or choose not to. That is not your burden to carry, the path and vision you have is for YOU. and it is your responsibility to water it and watch it grow. I used to get so upset about people not supporting me when in all actuality I should’ve been focused on those who do love and support me.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My mother! I watched my mom live out the most traumatic experiences, but no matter what her heart doesn’t change and her willingness to help others doesn’t change. She EASILY could be a woman who seeks revenge and refuses to help others because of how SHE has been neglected, but she doesn’t. Her moral character is completely unwavering, she knows right is right and wrong is wrong and takes accountability and expects others to abide by the same guidelines.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I believe that’s what makes me special. I’ve been doing nonprofit sector work since I was a kid and I always preach to my girls that you should never do good expecting rewards or any compliments for your work. The greatest feeling is knowing that you played a significant role into making someone’s life easier or healthier. That’s the reward, going to sleep proud, knowing that you put your best foot forward for the greater good.
