Tiana Harris’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Tiana Harris shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Tiana, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Right now, I feel called to step out of my comfort zone and build more in-person connections within the Jacksonville community. For a long time, I leaned heavily on online sales and social media to grow my business, which felt safer as an introvert. But I’ve realized that the next stage of growth for Simple Creations By T comes from forming genuine, face-to-face relationships.
My dream is to one day run my business full time, and I know that creating personal connections is key to driving consistency and building trust that leads to larger, long-term sales. Whether it’s through networking events, community partnerships, or simply showing up more in local spaces, I’m learning to embrace the power of relationships and not be afraid of putting myself out there. It’s a step that once felt intimidating, but now feels necessary and exciting for the future I envision.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Tiana, the owner of Simple Creations By T, a custom gift and apparel business based in Jacksonville, FL. I specialize in creating handmade items such as t-shirts, tumblers, gift sets, party favors, and promotional products that help people celebrate life’s special moments in a custom way.

My journey started in 2021 as more of a healing hobby than a business. After my therapist encouraged me to find a creative outlet, I purchased a Cricut Maker starter set from Facebook Marketplace. What began as a small project of a custom shadow box, quickly grew into something so much bigger. Over time, I discovered not only a passion for creating but also the joy of helping others bring their ideas to life through personalized gifts.

What makes Simple Creations By T unique is the heart behind every order. Each piece is handmade and designed with care, creativity, and attention to detail whether it’s for a reunion, a birthday, or just a thoughtful gift. Along the way, my business has grown to serve hundreds of customers locally, across the country and internationally.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach throughout Jacksonville by partnerships, bulk orders, and new product collections while still keeping the same personal touch that started it all. For me, it’s not just about the products — it’s about creating memories, celebrating milestones, and giving people something they can hold onto that feels truly theirs.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work was my late grandmother. We affectionately called her a “busy bee” because she always found something to do, even well into her later years. She had an incredible work ethic, no matter the task, big or small, she gave it her full effort and took pride in completing it well. Watching her taught me that work isn’t just about getting things done; it’s about showing up with dedication, consistency, and heart.

Her example instilled in me the belief that I should take advantage of every opportunity placed in front of me and approach it with my very best. Whether it’s school, my career, or my business, I carry her spirit with me. I am always working with intention, staying persistent, and remembering that giving 100% always pays off in the long run.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Hey little T, I know you’ve got your whole life planned out and you think everything has to happen a certain way by a certain timeline. But it’s okay if things don’t go exactly how you imagined. Life is going to take you in directions you never saw coming, and that’s not a bad thing. Give yourself grace, don’t be afraid to pivot, and trust that even the unexpected detours are part of your story. You’re stronger than you realize, and everything really will turn out the way it’s supposed to and even better than you initially planned.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
One belief I’m deeply committed to is growing my business into a household name. For me, it’s not just about creating products; it’s about building something lasting that people can trust and feel connected to. I’m dedicated to retaining customers by providing exceptional quality and service every single time, because I know that true growth comes from consistency and care.

Every order I make is a reflection of my craftsmanship, and I take pride in the details that make each piece special. My goal is for every customer to leave not only satisfied, but excited to recommend me to their family and friends. Word of mouth, relationships, and trust are the foundation I’m building on.

It may take years, but I’m committed to the journey — continuing to improve, staying true to my values, and working toward the day when Simple Creations By T is recognized as a go-to brand for custom gifts and apparel.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I will never regret taking chances and trying new things. Even though I’m naturally introverted, I’ve always pushed myself to get involved in activities that sparked my interest. As a kid, I remember signing up for karate and even trying out for the golf team, which eventually led to me exploring different sports in middle school like soccer, track, and cheer, even thought I didn’t make any of the teams.

In high school, I dove into clubs and leadership opportunities, from National Junior Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta to serving as the very first AVID president, playing Powderpuff football, participating in Ms. Sandalwood, and ultimately being crowned Homecoming Queen.

That same spirit carried into college, where I was a part of numerous organizations and the recipient of several awards at the University of Florida. I enjoy the excitement of new experiences, and even if something doesn’t work out or isn’t the right fit, I can look back with no regrets because at least I tried. Every chance I took taught me something about myself and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.

Now, I want to bring that same mindset to my business, Simple Creations By T. Since launching in 2021, I’ve had the honor of completing a 587-piece order for a high school reunion, serving over 580 customers, joining the HTVRONT Partners Club, and being selected twice for the FedEx E-Commerce Learning Lab. Just like in my younger years, I’m not afraid to take risks, try new things, and see where they lead. My goal is to continue building a business that grows through bold steps and leaves me with no regrets.
